Name a good bar to meet up. Plane lands at 3 pm, then BART.
Try to listen to my radio show today. Dale from the MELVINS may call in. Thanks to Moss for helping. Tune in online at www.KSCU.org at 4PM (PST).
I can't meet up before the show, but there's no way to miss me in a crowd. Say Hi during a song break!

I'm pretty damn tall. Just look up!
Danny & I will be there tonight (I'm also going Sat, he is not). My plane lands in Oakland around 5:30ish. Look for me at the show. I'm short/average height (5'7" or so), short blond hair, and I'll probably be wearing a Scratch Acid shirt. And pants, I will be wearing pants.

i'm sorry but i'm not much of a wordsmith, and i can't really describe what i witnessed the last two day's.
so someone please post good reviews.
what i can say is that the two shows where apples and oranges.
houdini was pummeling, different song order, tighter than ever and HEAVY. the crowd erupted every song the energy was insane.
eggnog/lysol, HEAVY HEAVY HEAVY. older crowd (the oldschoolers came out for this one). not much energy at this one but no need when your having a hard time just standing straight from the sheer force, of the melvins.
sorry i'm still processing....
porn was better friday night than saturdy, sex bomb both nights with richie singing.
they made up some old houdini and eggnogg shirts, got both and maybe i can post pics when i get a chance but you've seen them already. limited and signed hand printed posters by richie as well (guns and skulls, go figure). i will try and get a pic of that as well, anyhoo i've got to git to work. :(
oh ya, met grim and bad ronald. good people.

Nice- thanks! For some reason the reviews are slow to come in. Did Kurt play with porn as well?
kurt did play with porn.
they also showed the "purge of dissidents" dvd in between sets, which was very cool!
p.s. an image that will always remain- seeing grimreaper right at the end of lysol/eggnog set with an utter look of disbelief on his face and a mutter of " holy fuck, i've never seen anything........"
that says alot, grim's been there since the beginning
1.) 'It was an epic journey, lots of improvising. It was one big extended jam of Houdini. extended.'
2.) 'Goin' Blind was epic beyond all belief. It sounded killer in there. No earplugs necessary, but loud enough. I liked when they threw Candy-O in there. It was rockin.'
3.) 'Porn opened with an exceptionaly minimalistic set. Testing the patience of all in attendance.'
4.) 'As if last night Melvins doing Houdini wasn't enough. Tonight it was Eggnog/Lysol. They pushed it all over the edge. Dumptrucks, skyscrapers, you name it!'
5.) 'Whoa. Beautifully out of order and minimalistic only like Melvins and Porn can. That Sacrifice was astonishing.'
***Taken from StonerRock.com...Hopefully Jim (Tastelikedirt) will share some photos w/ us soon.
Hey all, new chump to this board but back from SF and still floored by the whole thing. Simply the band at their best and most intense, even without the BB gang (bless them both). Despite my tourist fatigue, sunburn and lack of proper eating I was in my glory. Worth the flight down for sure. When I get the pix off of my camera, I'll be sure to post them here as I had a sweet spot at the front of the stage for the Houdini night.
Having never seen or heard Porn, I kind of enjoyed them in that patience testing sort of way....
Porn on Saturday was WAY better than Friday. Friday they played two chords pretty sloppily for an hour, the ONLY thing that saved it was Dale. Torture for the meek. Pleasure trance for the damned. Saturday was very good compared with Friday because they actually played songs with Dale drumming again. AS FOR THE MELVINS. I was front center on Friday, 2nd person from edge of stage. Dales drums sounded SOOO FUCKING GOOD 4 feet away, sharp acoustic dynamics that did not make it over the PA system( I know because I was half way back on Saturday and the drums sounded diffused and not as sharp over the PA, but still killer). Friday was pretty high energy with a minor pit going on right behind me and lots of pushing back and forth. Since the Melvins are so badass I will note the things that I feel could have been better. FRIDAY... Lets see, Buzz's intro to Lizzy was soooo shrill it was frying the tweeters in the mains, and this is a quiet guitar part. I could not even decipher Trevor's bass line at the beginning of Night Goat until I watched his hands playing, it was so thin sounding. The performance otherwise was FUCKING MONUMENTAL...MOTHERFUCKING MONUMENTAL. I left the show so very sweaty and very pumped. SATURDAY..... Charmicarmacat was a killer first song even though Buzz was out of key a couple times on the slides with his Duracell 9 volt battery guitar slide. Ballad of Dwight Fry was done in its entirety, Buzz sang the last verse which I don't think he has EVER done, even on the record. If you have never listened to Alice Cooper's original, you cannot know what I mean. Trevor did'nt do the drop note in the bass line during the quiet part though, and that was sorely missed. Dale never did the "do you suppose god wants to heal cancer" part. Probably because they interwove the two EPs together, playing from each alternatively. The Hung Bunny/Roman Bird Dog show ender was a DRAG IN THE MUD, baby. From these few minor nothings you can tell how good it actually was. I am very critical when observing music, as I am a musician. I really had a killer time and hope they do a Stoner Witch show and a Stag show...Gluey Porch Treatments? C'mon guys, keep this trip going. It could evolve into a full series of album shows. O FUCK YEA!
Also Buzz had his good ol Sunn solid state bass head for a guitar rig, going into a 4x12 and a 1x15 on the bottom. It sounded thin, muffled and squealy compared to Porn and an Orange OD120 all tube full stack. Once the music started it did not matter though. Buzz can make a shitty(IMHO) amp sound good. How does he do it??? Every time Buzz muted his strings the amp would feedback uncontrollably, which was alright because it was true to the record. I am talking about Saturday, and the Eggnog songs in particular, because this is when it became most obvious. He used the same rig both nights though. THESE ARE NOT COMPLAINTS,JUST OBSERVATIONS. Also, it seemed like alot o people did not know the music on Saturday. I had Eggnog on vinyl in 94. I first heard the Melvins in 1988. 10 songs. Grinding Process quickly became my favorite back then. Then a friend rekindled my Melvins fever in 94 and it has not waned. It has been a blast hearing them progress through the Atlantic years on to Ipecac and now. I saw a father with his kid at the show (or the reverse) who must have been just barely hitting puberty, was not born when Stoner Witch came out. The kid had on a Melvins shirt and had obviously dragged his dad there, as he was occupying himself by reading a book sitting on the bench. I have been trying to see a Melvins show since 94, and still have my unspent ticket from a Slims show in 94, here is this kid seeing them when he's 12. Lucky kid.

I told Buzz I was a die hard and that I listened to Prick every day, we both laughed. He thanked me for coming down from north of Eureka to attend. That felt good.
Buzz is always really swell, unless you pull shitty stunts.
Very gracious guy.
And you are all lucky ass bastards.
I am also the guy who yelled "Yup,Dale's a crossdresser!" He was wearing fishnets on Friday. What a fucking badass drummer he is. I don't remember them playing Candy-o, but they played Deserted Cities of the Heart from Cream. Set Me Straight/DCH. What about Pressed Rat and Warthog. Anybody notice that being recited during Sky Pup recently? I noticed it while listening to the Reverb show 9/24/06. I realized I could modify my posts. Cool. Now when I re-read my posts and feel I was being jerky or pompous...dammit I've been quoted.
Trevor had fishnets on as well. When in SF i suppose....
