Title: Grumpy's Show this Saturday
Post by: cellphone on August 20, 2007, 09:56:44 AM
Anyone going?   Trying to decide if I want to go, but nobody I know here wants to go.

Why wouldn't you go?  I love going to shows alone, and I will be attending this one, alone, but will probably see some people I know.  It's Melvins in the town you live in, not many excuses not to go, are there?

Of course not, but I don't live in Minneapolis anymore and it's a couple hours of driving.  Plus I'm one of those assholes who are really busy with life crap.

I can understand a few hour drive, your profile sez MPLS still, my apologies.  I'm married with 2 kids, a job, my wife works, and I'm in school, so I don't drive out of town for shows really either.  I see your dilemma.  I am driving an hour to see David Allen Coe in 2 weeks though.

Did you get a chance to see the single covers yet?  How do they look?
Why are you driving to see David Allen Grier?

Wes swore to me the covers would be done this week, he even told me he would use my idea if I gave him one, but I don't think he liked the one I came up with (a big ole WWII era bomber with lil' Buzz's hair in place of the little bombs that they would paint on the sides), so we'll see what HE comes up with.
I'm going to see DAC because my wife is a big fan and I figure I may as well see him before he dies, legendary tattooed outlaw freak that he is.

EDIT

I guess the Melvins' record is called "Smash the State".

I was drunk the day my mama got out of prison
And I went to pick her up in the rain
But before I could get to the station in the pickup truck
She got ran over by a damned old train.

Thanks, I liked it.  Who knows if Buzz actually admired Reagan, he loves his classic hardcore punk, I think he's more Libertarian than strict Republican anyway.

A while ago Buzz did an interview with Kozik, and they talked a while about World War II.  Yah, he's probably libertarian at heart..like haze.

I am the Walrus.

edit

I don't think that is Wes' art, he must be doing the Melvins/HoF split or the APOD one or something.

edit

So that is Haze's artwork, Smash the State is  Melvins orginal, the whole 7 inch is supposed to harken back to '81-'82 punk, and Wes is doing the cover for the Melvins/H*O*F split.

Yes, it should be.  If it isn't, I'll transcribe it.

So Smash the State is all originals with Haze on 2nd geetar, no Big Business, 600 copies, Melvins/HOF split is 2x7 inch, 1 Melvins song, one H*O*F song on one 7 inch, then the other 7 inch is M*O*F, 600 copies, then APOD #3 w/ Buzz is 400 copies, all records are black vinyl and each one will come with a 9 song cd containing all the tracks from the 3 records except the 1 APOD track w/o Buzz.  Fucking Killer.

It's only a 2 hour drive, and it's interstate the whole way.  Also, I've done the drive about 50.5 times.
