Whoa. AWESOME.
My voice was going out before I got to the show, and its totally fucked today.

First thing I saw was the merch booth to my left, almost immediately John saw my shirt and was like "heeeey!"
Like he knew what I was there for. Which he did. I got some stuff (actually, a SHITLOAD of stuff{check your PMS Sweet and Idle}) The gig poster for Dallas was amazing, also picked up a few more from random places. thank for passing the message along Farty. John is so goddamn cool. Tip that guy for gods sake. I wont go into exactly HOW cool he is, go to a show and see for yourself. Fucking right on.
The stage was really high which was a bummer.
POD was..... weird, but I liked it. I don't think anyone else got it.
Biz went on, annnnd... no one really seemed to care except my group, and this one drunk/dusted/whacked guy that really fucking sucked. He kept doing th e whole "I'm fucked uuuup you guys ROOOOOOCK" thing. He was right in front of Toshi, and he kept getting a "pound it" between songs. It was funny watching Tosh interact with him.
Dale came on and asked the guy if he was on PCP and said some other shit I couldnt understand. Oh the  vocals were kinda bad here, too low. A minor quibble though. The new biz song is great, fucking heavy.

then the Melvins came on.
Same set list as all the other nights, but damn. It never really hit me what an awesome set this was till I witnessed it.
Man. It's Shoved, Your Blessened, Hog Leg (Coady on vocal FTW!), Let God, With Teeth... damn.
Also,
Id like to dedicate some time to a little song called "The Hawk."
This song is so fucking heavy. MAN. It's my fave from (A)SA.
BUMDADABUMBUMBUMDADABUMBUMBUM(guitar splooey)
BUUUUUM.

:D :D :D

Mechanical Bride is a whole nother beast live.
Dwight Fry with the extra verse was cool, that song really carries a lot of emotion for me. It was great seeing it again.

Afterwards, I got the set list, Talked to Toshi, he recognized me from the Oklahoma biz show, and said a few words to Moss.

NEW PORN IN JANUARY.

(wheres the boner emoticon?)

Great night, talked to John some more, got my stuff, and he wouldn't sell me the skull dammit! I asked him three time but finally gave it a rest.I' m sure he puts up with a whole lot of fucks. But damn I wanted it.

All in all, good night. Cant wait for the new album.

Great review.  Did moss say anything about a porn tour??  So the skull was just for decorations???

Nothing about a tour, but then again i didnt ask. And i guess the skull was for decorations, or to see how high a bid he could get... I said 50 bucks.

Did Dale, Coady, and Jared play the "jostled" song at the end? Basically it was Jared making noise
with Dale and Coady drumming and Dale telling a story about being "jostled" in a public restroom
from what I could make out of the lyrics.

Actually, now that you mention it, the show ended with them doing the whistling/drum part from roadbull 8)

I havent made it out in a few years. I think the last show I went to was at trees. I cant remember if it was trees or the engine room in houston I seen them at. I was impressed with Big Business. I really liked them. Melvins did a great job, though I though the set was pretty short compaired to seeing them in the past(maybe Im spoiled from the last show I attented with ween playing for close to 3 hours).

Was this a big or small turn out compaired to last years show?

last years show was at the Gypsy, which is now closed but was the coolest place. I dunno, they packed teh gypsy and this place seemed a little more... roomy.

The show was awesome.  My 15th Melvins show and 3rd for Big Business.  I am always overwhelmed by Big B. Coady's drumming is so insane.  It was great to hear 2 guitars at the end of the BB set, Toshi and Dale shredding like mad.  I've stood and waited through many shitty opening bands over the years so Big Business is a real treat.  It is also way better to not memorize the set list before you go to the show.  The new Melvins tunes 'Suicide in progress' and 'Billy Fish' are awesome, can't wait for the new album.

I agree the Gypsy Tea was smaller by far.  The Granada is a decent size and you can actually breathe in there.  It appeared to be a smaller turnout than last year but the Granada is like twice the size (wider i think)than the Gypsy was.  Here's some pics from the show...they're kinda small oh well

Oh no they aren't my pics. I got them from the granada theater website.  I guess taken by their in house photographer.  There's some a bit larger on flickr too  http://www.flickr.com/photos/billellisonphotographer/tags/melvins/

This is something I've always wanted to ask Buzz about.... at that point he had walked off stage, and I specifically remember dale and coady whistling for him. Was he bummed? Just tired? The crowd was lame and maybe he thought we didn't deserve it   :bs:
