Title: Request
Post by: samo on January 10, 2008, 10:00:31 AM
Hey guys, I don't know if this is all right or not.  But there are a couple of melvins tracks that I want to hear that I can't find/afford.  And was wondering if anyone had a digital copy of any of these.  I apologize if this is frowned upon.

Compilation:
At a crawl (studio version) - Advanced Alternative Media Vol.1
Charmicharmicat (Live Version from 91) - International Pop Underground Convention
Revolve (Live Studio) - Live @ Bob's Garage
Revolve (Demo) - Spew 6

Boots:
Gypsy Soul - I have the second half (I think I found it here), but I wanted to check out 'PBS On Tour'
The other 2 melvana tracks, I heard about them but don't even know what they are

Other:
Euthanasia
Revolve (Single)
Smash The State
Subraum
Melvins/H

As far as the melvana goes, there was a 7'' with 2 flipper songs released.  But there is supposedly a bootleg floating around that has the full set, which is 4 songs afaik they are all flipper covers.  Now that I have a date/venue, I will run with that though.

And it must be my lucky melvins day!  Ive searched ebay a couple of times for smash the state w/cd and all that came up was a D.O.A. DVD, type it in today *BAM* pristine copy, with 3 days left.  ha.

Did anyone ever rip the 'Safety Third (alt)' off of PotRE LP?  I have to buy a new cartridge for my turntable before I think about getting it.  When I moved I sat a box on in  :(

And is the With Teeth (summer version) exclusive to that 7''?  The A Side is from electroretard from what I heard.

If you listen to the last Melvana song you can hear them going into Ballad of Dwight Fry by Alice Cooper.

What?  I don't hear it.  Are you sure you are talking about the melvana release?  But since you said that I remember hearing or reading that you could hear the intro to that song somewhere.

Yep, the Melvana release. I'm listening to it right now; at the end of Sacrifice right before it fades out you can hear Dave playing the drum intro. Krist mentions it briefly in a column discussing the closing of the Crocodile Club.

What's so special about this one?  Never heard about it before.

So I finally got a copy of Smash the state/tour singles and the Charmicharmicat (Live). Damn these are awesome.

Oh and that sacrifice I completley missed those drums at the end, that is wild!  Too bad a full bootleg of that show doesnt exist.

Has anyone heard the at a crawl studio version?  This is the info I know about the album:

Release -1993
Label -Advanced Alternative Media
Notes: This version of 'At A Crawl' can only be found on this compilation. This cd was limited to 1000 copies, some of which were distributed promotionally to radio stations and record stores. (I got my copy at a radio station I worked at. Hence the call letters written across the cover.) I read somewhere that the rest were given away at a CMJ fest or something. Extremely rare! If you find this, consider yourself lucky! Jeff Buckley fans are nuts over this cause there is an unreleased track on it. So fend them off with a big stick!

Hrm, I will have to check that out!

But I've had the melvana 7 for a while now, but I heard rumors of 2 other songs that werent on there.  My buddy said that there is a bootleg of them in circulation.  Thank you though!

After a quick listen, it is the same one off of 26 songs track 22.  I haven't heard the version off of Advanced Alternative Media Vol.1, but it is said that it is exclusive to this release.

Was it the 7" with the Velvet Underground covers? It's been commonly mislabeled as "Melvana"
