YES! Fucking great show. Missed Fitz on purpose. Caught the second half of Mudhoney which was better than the other night.
Melvins ruled. Same set as the other night in Seattle with the addition of Sacrifice with Mark Arm on vocals. Buzzo tackled Arm and gave him a big hug at the end of the show. Buzzo made an awesome statement during a very violent stage diver altercation. "Save your violence for the streets of Olympia, where I can at least get a picture".
Got the Hardcover book, T-shirt and 7". Inside the book are the signatures and a $1 bill stapled to the inside over Dales signature. A friend of mine's book was signed Kevin "Rollins" Ass. And another had 31/17 written in it...hmmmmmm........?
Anyway, here's to another 20 years.

Fitz of Depression did Tear it up, they were Great. Mudhoney played a Power packed set. i could just tell that both of these Band's were feeling it for the melvins.
Let me tell you what a Beautiful Day it was. Driving down from seattle into the Sunlight and downtown olympia. Getting in line at 4:30, listening to sound check, meeting all the crazy beautiful people who are the Melvins Army. And then getting in, what a cool little Theatre. Smaller than i thought, Very intimate. i think the people in the first 4 rows of the Balcony actually had the Best "Views" of the Evenings Events, including the almost "out of control" mosh pit. Luckily that was small, limited by the wooden theatre seats that came down to the edge of the little orchestra "pit" Oh well what the fuck. It's the melvins for Christ's sake what did you expect.
Onwards - theMelvins were absolutely Fucking Glorious - it was obvious that Buzzo brought something "Special" to that show last night. He was on Fire for the first thirty minutes, and then after an annoying series of stage rushing fools, this one asshole decides he wants to practice his boxing skills with the security people who were trying to get him off the stage, he got off a couple lucky surprise shots before the security guys proceeded to kick his ass in a professional manner - right there on stage.
It's the melvins dood- what did you expect.
So..., the music came to a "Grinding" halt and Buzzo Regaled us (them) and Charmed us, thanks Buzz for Being so Cool.
This little event definitely broke Buzz's Spell, but on with the Show.
And i tell you it was Glorious! Buzz really brought it (saved it) for this show. i can't begin to tell you how possessed and Intense that show was for the first 30-35 minutes before numbnuts wanted to fight.
It was all so Good. Played some sick shit. Lovely Butterflies Stands out in my mind, of course - Youth of America was a smoker-
I think they played Missing on Sunday night in Seattle i'll have to check the setlists. I'm not very good at remembering setlists. mybrain get's a little wierd and unco-operative after a show like that. Only because i leave it "all" there. Cheers
The whole show was awesome. I drove up from Seattle and it was totally worth the trip! All 3 bands had killer stage presence and sounded great. I loved watching all the little kids getting body passed...too funny! It seemed like everyone in the place had a camera/video camera. Did anyone get any good shots/video/audio of the show? Great show, Fitz of Depression?? more like Fitz of Menstration, but Mudhoney tore it up, then Melvins blew me away, sorry to those who weren't there, later though
Fantastic Melvins performance at the Capitol Theater last night. Highlights included powerful renditions of "Youth of America," "Black Stooges," and "It's Shoved;" as well as exponentially slowed-down versions of "Fool/The Meddling Idiot" and "Manky." The last two songs were literally performed at a crawling, deathly tempo...much different from studio versions. "Night Goat" and "Hooch" sounded truly inspired.
Mudhoney was entertaining if not phenomenal. Fitz of Depression played energetically during their entire set, alas, their utter lack of ingenuity and inarticulate stage banter rendered their performance insipid within the first 30 seconds. Ack. Never again.
All in all, a wonderful evening.
One of three bands I've seen more than once. Up in the balcony was great. Glad to hear some Stoner Witch stuff. Saw them last time a few years back when they did Revolve and Smells Like...Forgot how good the drums were. Got a ticket at the door after despairing about selling out at Rainy Day. Wore my Melvins shirt I got at the show at college and all day today. That dog doody starts making sense, philosophically after a while if you let it. Hopefully this ain't my last concert before jail for smoking on a defferred...That chick next to me was bummed when her favorite song was interrupted, they should've had me watchin' the stage for them. Time to play with my new Roland GP-16 I bought today. Bull, you squirrel.
That's the first Melins show I have seen where the band just stops playing. I thought for a moment Buzz might just leave the stage, but not for the 20th Anniversary gig. I will post what he said after I listen to the concert again. It was something like come on, we don't want any one to get hurt. What I also found amazing was that the band all quit together, like they could read each others minds. What was that dude fighting for? One female riot Grrrl outfoxed the bouncers and got back into the crowd. Everyone else went down.
I had a spot dead center in front of the stage. I actually worried about my internal organs getting damaged. What a blood bath. There were a bunch of young kids on stage, to the left behind Buzz, most likely relatives. Good to see they all had hearing protection. My ears are still ringing.
Mark Arm came out with the lyrics to Sacrifice in his hand, he had to refer to the lyrics a few times. A great version of Sacrifice. After the song Buzz attempted to knock Mark Arm on his ass, but he couldn't pull it off. I wouldn't call it a hug, it was a football move and Mark Arm didn't go down and they sort of wrestled off stage. Dale kept drumming a while and some feedback started and he left the stage. I thought they would come back, but they didn't.
When a roady started to unplug the foot pedels I realized that another Melvins show was over. :cry:
Someone announced an after hours party, my ride had to work in 3 1/2 hours so I couldn't make it. Free with a live band. Did anyone go?
What is all the hatred for Fitz of Depression? They put on a good set. I bought a $3 cassett of Fitz and I think it's good. That's the price of one beer.
No alcohol in the theater, I went out to the car after FOD and sucked down few more and got back just as Mudhoney started, they also did a tight set.

I'm still Tripping off this show. It was basically incredible and Totally Amazing. the more i think about it - the more i realize what a brilliant Evening this was.
But! nobody has even put up a set-list yet- maybe on that 'other' page? I'll have to check.
i just wanted to recall a few more of the songs;
When Buzz came out he was possessed - that way he is at the start of every show, This time it was Real. I shit you not - the first 30 minutes it was like watching a downed power line, just whipping back and forth spewing Sparks - Fire - and Smoke.

the whole intro and beginning to lovely Butterflies was just insane!

Kevin prob'ly. i think i saw Dale smiling back there a few times, and that Kevin - he is so "nasty", at the seasttle show i kinda thought he was angry and ready to quit the band ( because Buzzo was making him "learn" all these old songs and kevin is the impatient one who wants to get on with the new stuff ala HAT and make some Noise.) just a wild theory that i just made up. But he's just nasty that's all. of course i love it. i love it all.

How about lovely Butterflies - man - Buzzo really Blew me away with that one - talk about hostile Ambient takeover (I know - i know - it's not on there)
I thought the shows on the hat tour were actually - Really! - the peak of Perfection for the melvins- such incredible material- just to get up there and grind it out - they were much better rehearsed for the hat tour is what i'm trying to say - i guess? as amatter of fact the very first sound out of Buzzo's mouth on Let it all be was a complete and total Bullfrog Croak- the first syllable absolutely a croak - and then just like that Buzzo found his voice ..., It was great. seeya

Whats with baggin' on the Fitz? The Melvins sure seem to like them. But then, what can you expect, with comments like "Fitz of Menstration" ,your really showing your mentallity (or lack of). Negative people lead negative lives. Enjoy!
Let me Tell You! The Fitz put on a great show. Yeah - it was kind of a "shaky" start, all bands need to warm up, mudhoney started out the same way, kinda shaky, maybe it was nerves or Emotion. The more i think about it - the more I REALIZE HOW SPECIAL THAT NIGHT WAS!
honestly - the Fitz really got Rockin - They played as well as they can. And in the end they gave more.
Mudhoney - the same way - they really brought it and got it going real good in the last half of their set.
Buzzo - was Different - When he walked out on stage and plugged in he really went immedialtey (woops the letters are all there, just not arranged right) Immediately into a Trancelike State where he was just Grinding out all the songs with an urgency and immediateness that couldn't be ignored or mistaken. He was in the Fucking Zone- Right there! and he kept it going right up to where "Evergreen Doofuss" took over the Stage. It was gone then. Buzzo was Cool, what he said, he was ready to Rock, he didn't needd People running into him when he was jumping around like an upright Epileptic. no offense intended to all the Epileptics who read this.
Back to the Fitz - they were awesome, prob'ly the best show they have played in a long time.

with a couple of fans before the show besides the backstage area. Fitz Of
Depression started their set with the KISS cover "Strutter" which was
amazing. I don't know any of their songs it was my first time hearing them.
Mudhoney played an outstanding set that included "Touch Me I'm Sick", "Suck
You Dry", In N Out Of Grace", "Mudride", "Flat Out Fucked", "Get Into
Yours", "Pushing For War", "Sonic Infusion" and some other off the new
record this is not in order. The Melvins played an excellent set which
included "Youth Of America", "Manky", "Let It All Be", "It's Shoved",
"Hooch", "Night Goat", "Black Stooges"," The Fool and The Meddeling Idiot",
and the Flipper cover "Sacrifice" with Mark Arm on vocals. not all those
songs were in order except "Sacrifice" was last, they played a lot more
songs than that. The Only souvenir i got besides the Mudhoney t-shirt and
the $20 poster was Dale Crover's set list that i got from a friend.

When you have 12 tapes from 4 shows, its something that can't be done as quickly as you'd like.
I see two resolutions:
1.) be patient
2.) start taping yourself! :)
Number two wasn't meant to sound like an ass, but seriosly, thats the best way to enjoy the show as quickly as possible! :)
