Melvins Discussion / Re: Kids react to Melvins

We religiously play "The Water Glass" on our way to the kids soccer games to get the kids "fired up".  My youngest is 3, he actually calls the song "Fired up" and asks for it "Dad, can we play Fired up ???"

Wonder if they're recording a new album? :-k

It's February...December to March is prime Melvins recording season.  I'm guessing there were rehearsals to lead up to the show that served as a good warm up for putting some stuff together for the studio.  Ah, to be a fan of the hardest working band in showbuisness . . . . . . we're spoiled really.

I hate to be negative but it's been bothering me for a while now. Freak Puke could have sounded so much better too.  :?

I long for the days of music recorded to tape instead of to a hard drive. Especially with the Melvins.

Do you really ?  I'd guess you'd see about half as many Melvins releases if this was the case.  I'm thinking the "miracle of modern technology" has helped bring the cost of recording an album way down, such that they're essentially doing it at what seems to be Toshi's "home studio" or portable setup brought to their rehearsal space.

That being said.  I like the bright crispy sounds of A Senile Animal and Nude With Boots a lot versus Freak Puke and Hold It In.  To me though, Freak Puke has grown into its own vibe with the mic'd upright bass.

Nice review !

I was at the show.  It was great.  It was nice to just stand and watch the show from up front yet not have to deal with a crowd full of lunatics pushing and moshing or whatever you kids are calling it nowadays.  It's really getting played out, but that's just my age talking.

It was fun to listen to Buzz talk and tell stories in between a few songs then go back into playing the songs and weirding out on stage.  If he ever wants to do a spoken word tour a-la Jello Biafra, I'd gladly pay to listen to him babble on about anything for a couple of hours.

Melvins Discussion / Re: The Grohl story...

How much of these shows are turning into a standup comedy/spoken word thing ?  I could listen to Buzz yap on and on for hours.  Great stuff.  I cracked up at the part about having his own shark story.

MUUUUDSHAAAAAAARK !!

I'm impressed with Joyful Noise as a record company - fast service, they use a great over-sized mailer, and they give a digital download code.

Same here. It's also the first vinyl that I have bought for under 20 bucks shipped in a long time as well.

Don't forget about the CANDY !!

Just came in the mail . . . I thought it wasn't shipping until mid-April ?!?!?  Not that I'm complaining !!!

typo on the year there ???

A little odd that it would be two years to the exact day that they were there on the 51 states in 51 days tour.

October 17, 2012 – Little Rock, AR – Juanita's Cantina (w/Tweak Bird)
