I dont think anybody has said this about Pigs of the roman empire yet.... but i look at this album as a sequel to Lysol.
does anyone else seem to feel this way?

Some people are just too stupid to understand Tool's music. That's what happens when you listen too much for The Beatles.

you are going to miss out on everything cool in life.

also, if i'm not mistaken, patton played all the instruments on "chariot choogle" -- it was recorded before he recruited dave, buzz and trevor. very cool.

You are correct sir. I believe it was part of the demo he gave them. Wasn't Igor Cavallera originally supposed to be the drummer of Fantomas but he said no?

"The first drummer I talked to was the drummer in Sepultura, Igor
Cavalera, a friend of mine. And he was into it, but he's coming from his own
place, and I wasn't really secure that that place was the right place for this
music. Meaning, I sent him a tape and he was kind of like, "Well, these are
some nice ideas. Maybe we can jam a little bit on this." Whoa! Wait a minute.
This isn't jam music, bud. I know it doesn't sound like a song, but that's what
I hear as a song. I was like, "Oh, fuck, the drummer is the crux of this thing.
In this type of music, you're only as good as your drummer." And then I
thought, "Oh my God, Lombardo is the man. Of course!"

Melvins Discussion / Re: Ever have a Melvins dream?

I am standing with an acquaintance from high school, Matt, in an unfamiliar, seemingly empty neighborhood. A large white van pulls up. I approach it and open the door on the side to find Matt is somehow already behind the wheel. Buzz is riding shotgun and the back two rows of seats are gone. Dale is sitting behind a small drum kit where the rest of the seats should be. They acknowledge my presence but I don't remember anybody in this dream speaking, all communication is non-verbal. I sit down indian style between the back of Buzz's seat and Dale's kick drum and the door shuts behind me. At some point after we

the first two minutes of skin horse are so good, it's just beyond me why they'd chop it up like that. like spitting in god's face.
FOOLISHNESS!

The beginning of Skin Horse wouldn't be nearly as powerful if there wasn't that 180 shift half way through the song.

It would be like listening to the end of See how pretty, see how smart without the first 5 or so minutes.

but you need the ying to compliment the yang, one is utterly useless without the other.

going to be my first melvins show. i will enter a boy and leave a man.

Are you still scared of Manky?

not now that i've heard it a million times and expect the sudden shift from quiet noise to loud instrumentation when it occurs, thus eliminating the element of surprise. besides, the slowed down sample of AMAZON in the last minute of green manalishi is way more forboding.
