Show is sold out
What's the likelihood of showing up early and getting tickets?
Anyone have extra tickets?

I need 2
But I can deal with just one and telling other people to piss off...

If not then, well...This will be the third melvins show where I listen and drink in the parking lot...

as far as i know, there was no video allowed....
the regency ballrooms policy, I believe, doesn't matter who's playing....

the double drummer freak out was good....
when the fog machine first started I thought it was kinda lame....but it kept pumping out fog for like 15 minutes straight, and by then the whole stage and 30 feet from it was nothing but a thick cloud that made the strobe lights brighter/darker than I've ever seen.....dale and king koffee were fucking wailing on it....

those show posters were awesome, first time ive been to a melvins show and didn't buy a poster...30 bux....but they were huge, colorful and awesome.....after paying between $5-$7 twice for a drink inside, i had unavailable funds....then the posters showed up....
oh well

I'm pretty sure they started with charmicarmicat, right?
I was in the mosh pit for the melvins entire set and my ass is kicked. Had to leave with a song or 2 left, soaked and beat. Met a few guys from the august show at the blank club, soaked and beat like me from the pit. 7th melvins show, first bhs...met jared outside the venue a few hours beforehand, my bassett hound, my lady and I were wondering the city and ran into him...talked about music and the bhs, he petted my dog.....literally though, not sure if 'pet my dog' is slang for something creepy in the city or not....

I thought the BHS were amazing, leary is a nut and gibby didn't seem half as bored as everyone been saying about the previous shows....leary talked for a minute about how they were really happy to be back in 'the city' and looked like they had a lot of old buddies around. Dale came on and played the encore with 'em, some noisy stuff and '22 going on 23' I believe. No theresa nervosa, I think that was established earlier though.....I'm not sure if pinkus could be more of a badass...half the time he looked like an old hardcore dude that was gonna smash his bass on someones nugget, the other half he was smiling and grinning and giggling like he was giddy as a schoolgirl.....it was great

It seemed like 'dog island' was heavy as can be....

first time staying in a hotel instead of making the 3+ hour drive home to chico.....that was nice.
My ladys never been to the city, so we woke up and went to the pier and the wharf and ate crab and clam chowder until I felt like i was going to turn into a barnacle....
bought my ticket ahead of time cuz I was worried about the BHS drawing a crowd and none being available at the door....fucking ticketmaster....first time I've went through them in like 4 years, fuck those guys....

in sacramento I ran into buzz and walked for a while, he was acting funny and I swear he was coked out. We got to the front door of the club and I told him I was gonna go to my jeep and drink a beer and smoke a joint and that he was more than welcome to come....he hesitated and said "no I don't do that, it makes me paranoid"
someone else I know who hung out with him for a bit said he was a total cokehead.....

I bet he does everything, it's just he's got super rock star drug-annihilating metabolism that most ODers could only dream of.....

were you the youngen with the "kitty petting" nirvana shirt right in front of buzz?? If so, I was right behind you, me and my old lady.

They had damn near every melvins CD in print at the merchandise booth, most fantomas stuff, PORN cds, 4 different posters (most of which were signed) new big business shirt, a couple new melvins shirts (bloody faces and the satan face just like new years), the trivia/riddle book, comic book/demo packages, walsby was selling original art pages of his comic books for $20. They had the eggnog and houdini shirts. I think that may be it. Oh, and the tour III cd from BB that I didn't get. I already spent $60 on stuff and was trying not to blow all my dough....came close though....
New big business shirt looked kinda like mushrooms/trees with the roots going down and spelling big business in weird colors. Pretty psychedelic, I thought.

Oh yeah, and I tried to get the set list, got told not to go onstage, went to Moss at the Backstage door and told him I'd give him $5 if he grabbed it for me and he said he couldn't leave the door, so I told him "let me go get it" and he said "if you go up there then everyone will and steal shit"

So, whatever.

Toshi sang a lot, his playing was way more prevalent and it was good shit. The capacity of the place was 200 and it did not sell out. How the fuck do they make any money?

Got to the boardwalk about 7:15, doors weren't open yet and I heard soundchecks going on, bouncers told me I could get tickets when we get in the door. We just got off the road and hadn't eaten, so we went down the road to DQ, had shitty burgers and came back and went in. I didn't realize their was a band before big business, 'giant squid', a 4 piece with guitarer/vocaler, drummer, basser and violinist. Played well, seemed to be their 'hometown', alot of the riffs sound the same and his voice annoyed me. But not the worst band ever.

I bought all kinds of kool shit before this, saw dale out back at the fan and waved, met brian walsby and he signed my comic book/making love demo combo I bought. I got an eggnog shirt, show poster (which didn't show up till big business was due on stage), PORN CD, melvins trivia & trick book and I think that's it. Saw Tim Moss again and said hi, waiting for big business to play at the right of the stage, buzzo and dale both came out and wondered around very determined, they seemed busy but I'm pretty sure Buzz recognized me. He looked at me for a second or two and smiled all funny. I met him last year in sacramento and walked 7 or 8 blocks with him just chatting, and then in san fran too. Both times we talked for quite a bit about all kinds of silly and serious things....anyway.

Big Business played 3 new songs I think. Halfway through one of the older songs the drums were moving a bit and in the middle of the song jared was like "hey, alright, what the fuck are we doing still playing this? WE're fucking it up" and He explained that they called 'em "technical D's" in the industry.  Him and toshi started playing an older classic rock song after jared told some bad knock knock jokes. Which were as follows:
Knock Knock
WHo's there?
9-11
9-11 who?
You said you'd never forget.

(engage gay lisp)
Knock Knock
Who's there?
Panther
Panther who?
Panther, no pants, I'm going swimming
(gay lisp disengage)

then they finished the song.

Melvins came out, buzzo in a corduroy moo moo and jared with a gold foil thing on his head, a funny belt and the same goldish moo moo as new years. Same set list I read from previous shows. Started with nude with boots, then dog island. During dog Island I could tell buzz was lookin right at me for quite a while. I sang along with a lot of the songs, and he kept looking at me and he made my fiance feel like he was kinda creepy. Sweet. She wanted to move so he would stop looking at us. He kept coming right in front of us on the stage almost like he was showing us the riffs. Weird.
I cannot believe this man is not coked out, he is out of his goddamn mind onstage.
Also, I've never anyone act anything like that unless they were coked to the hilt, but I digest....

They Did play EYE FLYS!!!
FUCK MY BALLS!!
As soon as the bass line started I freaked the fuck out. A lot of people looked confused for the first 3 minutes of it. I'm not sure if this was before or after honey bucket.

They played honey bucket and then went into another song that I knew but couldn't put my finger on the name. When they started play the hawk/rat faced/you've never been right (in whichever order they are) I told my fiance these would be the last songs. Nope

As soon as it was over, buzz was tuning up still. "here it comes" I thought.
Then they did the star spangled banner, better than they did on new year's I thought. Then they played a fucked up weird version of "my generation" with only coady and dale singing in really weird voices. Then they played boris. It was fucking awesome

Buzz played and sang it WAY differently than I've ever heard. The ending of it was really drawn out, sang high pitched and inflected really weird by both buzz and jared while coady and dale cuddled and walked off the stage. I would've hung out and harrassed them, but I had a 2 hour drive back to chico and I've been sleeping like 4 hours a night all week. I think that's it.
So, I took no pictures cuz you're not allowed off of the "boardwalk" in front of the bar. I'll try to post a picture of the poster if you fuckos are interested.

Hey, I'll be at the same show, I'm coming down from chico. I'm 10 years older than you but I don't like punching 15 year olds in the face. I'll be the skinny short guy with long hair right next to the fucking stage.

none of you motherfuckers are going to sacramento??
I wouldn't either, if I were closer to SF

I MIGHT make it to SF, and if SF, then possibly reno. And if I do that and can hustle my balls off, I will be at my parents house for the LA park show and whatever the fuck else is going down for that last part of the california leg. SD maybe? If anyone in california is planning on doing some traveling or wants to travel send me a message that I can forget to check

I'll be at the first 4 shows if everything goes as planned.

Nothing is planned, except making it to the shows.

well the last line was sarcastic.
I don't expect them to play at my house, There's 2 theatres and 4 or 5 bars that do shows right near my house, one of which the melvins have played before....so I figured the best time to bug them would be during booking, which I assume is going on now, right?

So one of you stalking bastards give me buzz's phone number/SSN/address/blood type/shoe size or something.....

REACT!

Melvins Discussion / melvins booking?
May 08, 2008, 10:48:00 PM
I figured that they're probably going through the stages of arranging the tour right about now....I met buzz a couple times last year and each time mentioned that they should play here in Chico, Ca...they did in 02 but that was before I lived here. He said it was a cool place and started talking about doing an album at the beginning of the year then we'll see what happens.....soooo....

any idea how to send hate mail directly to the melvins if they don't play at a BBQ at my house??
