Melvins Discussion / Re: Will Melvins' music ever date?
November 08, 2009, 03:19:55 AM
Totally off topic, but I think it's funny that you can always tell if a movie was made in the 80's/early 90's just by hearing the soundtrack. Cheesy casio style drums/keyboards etc.

It's late and I've had a few beers, sorry.

Sorry if this has been posted already, but where is this show happening? In SF? Any Sacramento shows? Thanks.

At The Stone in SF, early 1989 with Poison Idea.

Yeah, I'm old.

Melvins Discussion / Re: Colossus of Destiny question

I have most of The Melvins stuff, and I bought COD not long after it first came out, but I couldn't make it through one listening. I didn't even know "Eye Flys" was on there. I ended up selling it. I have gotten into some drone stuff lately, so maybe I would appreciate it more these days. From what I remember it was mostly electronic bleeps and noise. Does it have guitar noise on there too? Drums?

Even though I am a longtime Melvins fan, I kind of have to agree with certain people (even though he has a silly emo haircut) and say that I'm a little apprehensive about this CD. I would definately want to hear some of it first before I bought it.

Melvins Album Discussion / Re: LYSOL

Has anyone ever noticed, in the movie "A Clockwork Orange", when Alex is walking through the record store, he stops for a minute, and in the background, you can see a record with what looks to be the same Indian painting on it, with the white background?

Thanks Anaconda! Feelin' kind of dumb now, I didn't notice the slider.

Melvins Discussion / Re: Melvins double trio
June 05, 2009, 03:36:34 PM
Sorry if this is kind of a late response, but I read a while back that when they did the recent Houdini shows, they played some stuff as a duo? I imagine that was Buzz and Dale? What songs did they play?

By they way, I also miss the Melvins as a power trio. 2nd guitar idea would be cool too.

Thanks.

Cool videos, thanks for posting! Although I didn't see anything about "Copache", I watched all four videos.

Is that a fact?

No, it's not a fact, it's my opinion, wiseguy. Am I that far off base?

"We Reach" starts when the guitar changes to straight feedback, the bassline starts, and Buzzo sings, "I could of hoped for -  a better piece of your man..."

Houdini is pretty psychedelic, especially the second half of the album. I wish they had put Rocket Reducer #62 was the last song instead of Spread Eagle Beagle, but I'm probably in the minority on that.

I totally agree with you. I originally bought Houdini on vinyl, and their cover of Rocket Reducer is really awesome. I never listen to Spread Eagle Beagle on the CD, not sure if I've ever listened to the whole song.
