While I don't think what he's doing is as amazing as others have been saying I also didn't expect him to get onstage and be Esteban.

And RE the idea of Buzz "learning" about the switch to acoustic from Jimmy Page...ridiculous. Buzz is who he is, as is Jimmy Page. Watch video above one more time.

Steve Albini

THIS. Not even as a player, just record an album with him at his studio. WHY HASN'T THIS HAPPENED YET?

I believe the reason this hasn't happened is that Buzz had a falling out with Steve.  Rumor is Steve was talking shit about the Melvins behind their backs.  Let me make it clear that I don't know if this is true or not.

Albini seems to have softened a bit on his Melvins stance...I recall him being more appreciative as of late. Maybe it's political points of view?

seems to me like it's more about being happy with doing it themselves/with Toshi.

I have often thought about what Dale's drums would sound like if they ever did record with him...but I doubt Buzz would be as down with his vocals getting buried in the mix.

I saw them open for Primus in 1993 at Roseland Ballroom in NYC.

I fucking hated the Melvins set...and joined in on booing along with everyone else.

I haven't listened to Primus since that year.

No time to even begin describing how much the Melvins have been in my life since.

I often think about going back to that night knowing better...I bet they destroyed, as they have all of the many, many times I have seen them play since.

I'm glad I got to see Houdini done with both Trevor Dunn and the Jared/Coady lineup. The power of the foursome is amazing, but there's something to be said for a trio also...

I'm bummed that the NY people aren't posting more about this show, perhaps waiting for tonight?

Eggnog/Lysol was one of the most amazing sets I've seen them play...

It was cute watching a few people crowdsurf...I felt like it was 1993. aww...

amazing show...not a word from Buzz the whole night...clock in and clock out.

One thing though, did Buzz's voice sound different tonight? Maybe nursing a cold?

I thought the one with the drug prescription symbols (not on this list) that he wore before the pony Mumu was the best...though the hearts one is classic.

I need the audio of this whole show.

I think Buzz does a pretty good job of blurring the picture people get of him as a person.  Because he's not in the business of being our friend, he's in fucking show business.

I remember being at the show where the Melvins opened for Primus, must have been mid 90's,
the Primus fans in the crowd were like " WTF is this shit ?", "Why is this song so slow ?", etc,etc.
About 3 months later a lot of those same people were coming into the record store I managed
and were asking me which Melvins album they should get. The thing with the Melvins is, you
might not "get it" on first listen,  because they don't really fit into a standard musical category.
There are/were no musical contemporaries for the average listener to lump Melvins in with so
they can/could understand it & feel comfortable accepting it. A lot people have to shed their musical
paradigms before they "understand" the Melvins. Primus never evolved, they just kept doing what
worked & pigeonholed themselves. The Melvins, however, have never stopped carving their unique
mark into music history, they just keep fuckin' the music world up the ass with a hard on that's lasted
over 25 years.....that's why I love 'em & will always be a fan.

I was thinking today about Let It All Be after reading some recent Buzz interviews...

it seems sort of obvious, too obvious for a melvins song, but is it about doing press?

it was probably "Bacon Industry" - a Karp song from the self titled LP.

and I hate that you got to see them do it...damn you Isis for breaking up and taking the headline spots in NYC!!!
