thanks to buzz and dale for stopping here 2 years in a row!

great show.  probably the closet thing to a jazz set i've ever seen the melvins play.  you've already read about the stand-up bass that trevor is rockin' on this tour, but also of note, dale was using brushes on about half the songs.  plus, it could have been an optical illusion with coady missing, but his kit seemed stripped down a bit as well.  still plenty of cymbals. . . and a cowbell, of course.  less toms, i think.

that being said, it was still a loud, full sound.  at times fast tempos and at times crazy slow.  every time i see the melvins, they seem to put a twist on things.  trevor dunn is incredible, but i like the big bizz kids as well.

I hit up the first show in San Diego...will probably be in San Jose too.
i'll be at the blank club.  i'll be the one hopped up on all the great local coffee.

Melvins Discussion / tbsm tour requests
June 06, 2010, 02:31:34 PM
i'm going to the san jose blank club date, and after giving tbsm a few spins, i got to thinking roadbull would fit in great with the latest material.  anybody else have any requests?  (the setlist from the first show looked crazy good anyway, but still.)

Someone not heavy, for contrast. Maybe like a concert pianist or something, that would be good.
on the contrast tip -- joe frank.
