Melvins Album Discussion / Re: Honky

i honestly thought these guys had broken up after Stag. there was just general lack of information and the internet was slim back then. it wasn't until 98 that i read in some Metal mag from one of my friends that they were doing Ozzfest. so i jumped on his computer and found out about Honky and checked out the samples from CDNOW, ran out and got the album the next day.

i tortured my black metal loving friend for as i could with it. he liked it but i think his mind was blown more or less and that kinda bothered him.

i loved it then and i do now. i mean Stag was wild but this is further down the rabbit hole. which was kinda disconcerting at the time....wondering if they'll come back.

they did and i did too. and here i am.

40 Watt in Athens Ga opening for folk implosion. or maybe it was a double bill?

i went to see the Melvins. met skinny Buzz outside the record shop with Dale in it with pink hair

cool day
What year? They had Folk Implosion opening for them when I saw them in '01.
As far as I know, Folk Implosion never toured in the 90's. That lineup was Lou Barlow with mercenaries, instead of his partner, Jon. From the original run.
Skinny Buzz would be about that time, too.

yep. 01. maybe april or may. i remember it was a warm spring day.

met Lou too that day but i think he was on bad drugs or some such. very jumpy nervous guy.
saw a lot of favorite bands for the first time that year.

i still hate pink floyd, unless you want to be like William Hurt in Altered States. boring!!

fuck this band!!

why you so offended that i dislike the Floyd?

like i stated, i enjoy some songs but most of it is boring fluff. sorry but the Syd shit might be even worse besides the evil acid killer Interstellar Overdrive. Gnome, Cats and Bikes are not my thing and please don't expand on The Beatles/Kinks nostalgic LSD trip songwise.

thank you.

ps. name me one Floyd album that isn't boring as shit!?! those German Progressive bands from the early 70's did it better though maybe inspired by them, but so what?

ha!! YES!!!

funny this topic was mentioned because i thought about this last night, about how i was listening to Ozma over and over during last years Superbowl. i think maybe i took a pause between to witness Bruno Mars and the tragedy that was the RHCP. other than that, i couldn've been bothered except for Ozma blasting in the background.

weird how you remember stuff like that. so on that note, ill say OZMA!!!!

thanks! i guess that kinda clears things up a bit. knew there might have been a thread about it but couldnt find it.

nice to know i was right all along just by comparing the two for years. just the info about the Houndi version was just so confusing.

who loves it? me surely, but is the Houdini version a complete re-recording or just some abridged version of the single with the intro and outro abbreviated with newely recorded bass to not give royality to where royality should be given.

thoughts more on the confusion and not the song or single. though both are surely welcomed in these parts and open to any comments.

..and also, besides Revolve.....it must be the most Melvins song played live.
