Melvins Show Reviews / Re: Le Bataclan Paris 19 Sep 2015
November 14, 2015, 04:33:20 PM
I'm alright, I was at Fred Wesley's gig few kms north from Paris. Got something like ten phone calls or so in less than half an hour from family and friends and I didn't know what the hell was going on... Bombing occurred about the time Wesley was playing his song "Peace Power". Fucking lame.
All the gigs in France have been cancelled for the weekend, everywhere.
A mate of a good friend of mine died at le Bataclan. Another good friend was at le Stade de France for the match but he's safe, we avoided a lot of trouble there, "only" four people were killed, it could have been much worse with 80.000 people in the stadium.
I work for the COP21 and I'm getting a bit unenthusiastic about it, we had some fun talking about the fact that it may be the best occasion for bombing with 80 heads of state present there. I'm not even sure the event will take place, I'll have some more news next week.
Sad sad day.

Will this say Melvins are set to play 19th of june, as they are divided in three, with 17th, 18th and 19th pr part? If so, I would be happy to spend my birthday in France watching my favs!
(I guess the days aren`t settled yet and that this is just a way to present it all, with the two headliners guranteed not playing the same day. How the rubish norwegian band Kvelertak has a spot there I don`t understand, hate that band.

The division is a sort of classification by genres. There are only three divisions for now but there are six stages at the fest (two mains, one for black metal, one for death metal, one for punk and one for stoner where Melvins played last time). It might be a pre-division to see a bit clearer in the prog and I guess it has nothing to do with the days the bands will play.
I'm pretty sure most of the bands in the first section will play on the mainstages, the first section will be for the death/black stages and the last for punk/stoner.

As for Rammstein they are very popular in Europe, it's one of the biggest shows/bands in the metal scene nowadays here. Booking them might be even more expensive than Black Sabbath :D

Hey Judy, I will attend the Paris show. Booked the flights yesterday.
I hope they play another show somewhere nearby in September, too.
Very nice!   :D Seeing Melvins in Paris sounds magical. I had the opportunity to study art history there back in 2005. Beautiful city. What's the venue like?

Le Bataclan is an awesome venue, old café-concert/music hall from the 19th century. The maximum capacity is 1500 which is quite good for the Melvins (in Paris they usually play in venues around 600-700 max capacity)! They have a good scheduling IMO, I've only been there three times to see Kyuss, Gojira and L7 few weeks ago. Never been disappointed and I guess I won't be this time if I manage to be there!

(I've just seen that the ticket is pretty expensive though, 38€, last time was around 25€...)

Levitation France anyone?

Only two-days tickets are selling for now. And the Melvins play in Paris on the second day... Still waiting for some organization to know if I'm in or not.

Got you added. How about our Parisians? Bloated Pope? Sexy Grampa? Zorn? Anyone going to Paris? France, not Kentucky!  :o

Meeeeh... I should be working at this time of the year. But I might try to get some work around Paris and stop by Angers on my way. Sounds like a plan! Still hesitating due to the Parisian crowd, but I've never seen the band as a three-piece yet (will they play as a three-piece anyway?) and it's been quite a long time I haven't seen them. I'm already starting to organize as I write this post.  :D

It's half the price of the patch......that fits in an envelope and weighs next to nothing.

Not complaining just saying'.

You don't wanna know about the shipping costs to Europe.
Not saying, just compllaining.
you should find someone in the us that wants one, and have them order doubles and just send the patch on to you.

I'm thinking about it but I'm not really sure I want one for now hehe. But hell, someone has to say 1$ per gram is maybe a LITTLE excessive for a shipping, anywhere in the world. It's closer to the price for some drug than for food...

Wish I could be there. Don't want to party with my friends this year... I need a break. It would be a good opportunity if it didn't cost me two thousands bucks.

The Melvins with Trevor Dunn (Melvins Lite): Live @ The Ottobar, 10/7/2012, (Part 3)

Probably posted before, but I've just watched it and the part starting around 5:30 is one of my favorites live footage of Buzz doing the talk show!

Anyone else order from Amazon? If you do you get a free copy of the album in mp3 format, which should tide you over until it ships.

I did, but I'll wait for the CD! I haven't been withdrawn yet...
Funny thing about preorders on Amazon is that they are most of the time cheaper to order on the .com than on my country's version of the site, even (and especially) with the shipping.
