Cool review. Yeah, show ruled. My 14th and one of the best. As others have said, yeah, Buzz & Jeff are really channeling ZZ Top circa 1980 with their stage moves. Buzz is moving around more than ever in the 12 yrs I've been seeing them. The Buttholes covers ruled, and Youth Of America killed, finally got to see that one live.
As much as I like to see bands who mix the setlist up every night & throw in the rare song or two, I love how Melvins deliver the same setlist every show, & every night is like it's the last night on Earth.
This was my 12th time, they were definitely better than the last few times I've seen them.
As solid as they are, it would be nice to see them mix it up every once in a while. I would travel to see my favorite band on a few dates on their tour, but why do so if they are going to play the same exact set.

A review my friend wrote, I took pictures.

The band was great. Buzzo really warmed up mid-set and played some ripping solos.

Merch - No poster for this specific show for sale. Most of the Clown 7"s were available, Butcherettes split, Silver skull version Melvins/Totimoshi split, etc.

I think there's a story in why Melvins haven't played Buffalo since '09.  Last time was that off night from the Down tour at Town Ballroom. Night before they were with Down in Rochester which was well attended. A lot of people left during Down's set(myself included). I couldn't wait to see Melvins again next night. The Buffalo show was Melvins(2 sets), with Weedeater opening and was pretty poorly attended. Previous two times in Buffalo - '06 & '08 were good turnouts. From what I understand, local promoter was also a member of some local generic stoner-rock band who wanted to open. When they were told no locals, they decided to barely promote the show. Faggots.
There were literally like 8 people watching Weedeater's set, and maybe 50-100 tops by the time Melvins hit stage. Still one of the best shows I saw them play. Seriously, nobody even knew Weedeater were on. 6 months later Weedeater plays to a packed house at a smaller club, and that show was hyped up months in advance. That promoter has since folded, so hopefully the Melvins come through and get a better deal next time. If not, I'll gladly keep driving to Cleveland, Syracuse, or Rochester.

That Town Ballroom show was one of my favorites, just about a perfect setlist and Weedeater were a nice surprise. I'd prefer they keep coming back to Westcott in Syracuse, that seems like a great venue for them.
I was very happy to see the Melvins play the Westcott. Parking in the area sucks but otherwise went well.

Also, anyone know why the Melvins never have a local opener?

I think that C. Lee shirt has been re-pressed quite a few times. I could have sworn I saw it for sale on some tour between 2000-01. Unless it was a tour leftover.

Melvins 30th Anniversary Tour

July 27 - Syracuse, NY @ The Westcott Theater

FUCK Syracuse! Who lives in Syracuse?
Why not Rochester or Buffalo?

Waa waa waa!

Fuck. At least I get to see FLAG and SWANS this summer.

I FUCKIN live in Syracuse!

:D

It will be the first show I don't have to drive hours to get to, of the 10 or so times I've seen. It's about time!

This glow-in-the-dark skull is still a mystery to me.  It's an oldie, that's for sure...
I have that one. I think I picked it up on the 1999 tour.

Hey,

Are the tracks on Eggnog exclusive to that EP? and is there a way I can check this kinda thing out in future to not bug y'all?

SM

Wispy: none
Antioxidote: live version on Live At Fucker Club
Hog Leg: Live on version on 8 track. As someone else mentioned, the album version is on the Neither Here Nor There book cd.

All of the songs are featured live on the "Salad of a Thousand Delights" dvd

Charmicarmicat isn't on the Salad dvd

See you there Blewis :D Gonna be the show of the year for sure. It doesn't seem like 4 yrs since they last played there. I think it's in the main hall this time, not the club side.
Something tells me there won't be any merch on this run though. Buzz has stated that when they tour Canada, they leave the merch behind because they get taxed to death on the stuff. I doubt they would bother to bring anything to Rochester for one night, and to link up  with the merch again in two weeks. I hope I'm wrong though.
I can't wait!
I'll be bummed if they don't bring any merch, but a show I dont have to travel over 4 hrs to attend? Fair enough trade-off.

The "not knowing" right now is killing me . Hope there's a Buffalo or Rochester date on the schedule, last stop here was '09. I'd settle with Cleveland too. When was the last time they played Syracuse. Saw Clutch/C.O.C. a few weeks ago there at The Westcott Theater. Would be a perfect venue for Melvins. I hope this isn't just a dozen-date "big city" tour. We'll see.

The last time the Melvins played Syracuse was when they played the Fairgrounds as part of Lollapalooza in 1996.
The Westcott Theater is fairly new. I have suggested to the owners to book the Melvins. But they usually book college/hippie oriented stuff. Who knows. Maybe this fall we will get lucky.
I wanted to go to the NYC show but the Mrs and I are expecting a lil one right around the sametime.

This is awesome.
It's sorta like Jagermeister. I know several bands sponsored by them and they get FREE merch to SELL.

I know Jager seems to make more sense than Scion, but at the end of the day:
"The band has full artistic control of its product, and with Scion's money it has also been able to make music videos, something that he said his band had rarely had the budget for."

Sounds like a pretty good deal in my book!
