Melvins Discussion / Re: (the) Melvins - Tarantula Heart

Wow! Just stumbled on the YT video this morning.  Took me a while to realize its a new single.  I love it, heavy and droney. Buzz's voice sounds good. Mackey album cover is sick.

I got my poster at the Albany show.  Amazing!  Can't wait to frame it and get a UV art light to display it at night.
Great job!

Do you know how long it took me to scroll through the first 30 pages of this thread, looking for the interview link?!  Finally decided to start at page 60 and go backwards.  Link in page 59!!  What the hell am I gonna put on my time sheet for that excursion?

Considering Desertfest in Queens and the Albany show.  Anybody have feedback on this Empire Live venue?

So has anybody actually bitten the bullet on the $205 40th Anniversary Bundle?  It's a chunk of change but give them your email and phone (and a DNA sample) and you get 10% off.  I don't have any of the three albums yet so it might make sense.

mlvns headlining desertfest nyc in sept

OK, tell me more about this Desertfest.  Anybody been to one?  Three days, does that mean Melvins will play day 3?

I was at the show right in front of Buzz.  My second Melvins show (both this year).  I little bummed it was the same set both times but I knew that was standard issue.  The mosh pit started about three people behind me.  Lots of energy in the crowd.  Not sure how I feel about Stephen singing History of Bad Men.

I bought the Veeps video.  Agree the bass is low in the mix but it's there.  I'd like to see a mix of color and B&W.  There are 2 or 3 glitches in the video where the image freezes for 3-4 seconds but the audio continues.  I wouldn't say there was any significant 'bonus' material.  The Void Mains piece on the video wasn't really representative of what he did at the show which was extremely loud droning bass-centered techno with odd Rorschach test images on the screen.  Not my cup of tea.  I wish I could 'own' the video for $10 instead of having it disappear after a month.  Is there a way to record my computer screen for future enjoyment?

The posted set list is correct except that ENWG came after Never Say You're Sorry.  I met a Russian guy in the line to get in.  He was on the rail about 5 people to the right of me.  After the show, a roadie removed Stephen's set list from the floor and threw it to the Russian (after crumpling it up).  I took a photo.

Looking forward to the US leg of the 40th anniversary.  Could we hope for Cody to join in?

I watched the show yesterday for the second time and these are all the songs from the show. Now, in terms of the actual order... ehm, I'm not really sure, I should've written down the setlist while I was watching it but nah, I wanted to enjoy it properly.

Thanks for the welcome and album advice.  Also for confirming the issue with the Helms Alee sound, too bad.
what was the last time they toured with a second drummer?

Hi All.  New guy here.  I must confess my sins and digressions but I'm very new to the Melvins having grown up on the NWOBHM.  Been searching through some stoner/doom metal and finally landed on Buzz & Dale.  I missed them with Ministry in March in New Haven CT and was kicking myself.

Well I saw them Monday in Hamden CT with my son (15).  His second concert and first club show.  Let me say we were blown away!  We were one guy back from the stage on Buzz's side.  My son was grinning the whole time.  The set was amazing despite me not having the depth to recognize all the songs.  Buzz was intense, focused.  Dale is a MONSTER!  God damn it's fun watching him play, and twice!  Harsh Mellow was cool and really enjoyed Helms Alee greatly except for the guitar (pretentious, 2 minutes tuning between songs, dramatic screaming face with nothing coming out, was it all in the right monitor?).  HA drummer kicked ass (drums and vocals).  The crowd was cool, could have been more enthused, no pit.

I was looking for the set list yesterday and found this forum.  Soon realized they don't mix up the set list on a tour (or from one tour to the next) much.  My son went to the mall yesterday (day after), which he never does, and found Five Legged Dog on vinyl!  Looking forward to building the collection and the deep dive.

Already have the September Irving Plaza (NYC) date on the calendar.  I'd expect the NYC show to be a different vibe from Hamden CT, although sounds like the set list will be very similar.  Your thoughts on Melvins in NYC?
