So, ah... did anyone get an extra copy they'd be willing to part with?
I can offer vinyl, cash or a combination of both.

I can't believe I missed this. There was a snow storm and I was home ALL DAY. Fuck.

The  7" singles are so cool, especially since it comes with the CD which has all tracks. I went with the Smash The State one.

How much were these?
Hopefully they still have them on Thursday.

Melvins Show Reviews / Re: NORTHAMPTON 2006

So, uh, getting back on track...

Northampton. Right.
Anyways, I took my little bro to his first Melvins show, and he fucking loved it. He even asked me a couple days later about what Melvins CDs he should get.
We got there early and stood around outside listening to the sound check. They played a little bit of Black Flag's "Damaged I" and then "Civilized Worm".
I bought a lot of stuff. A signed poster, a t-shirt, 4 stickers, the Trick and Riddle Book, and one of the HAT 7"s.
I took a few pictures, but due to the venue's "no flash" policy and the rough crowd, these are really the only ones that came out good.
Enjoy.

Tim Moss from PORN.

The drummers.

This pic of Buzz came out ok.

More drummers. Gardening gloves for all.

A pic of Jared gunning down some guy who landed on the stage. I like this one.

Yeah, there were a lot of assholes in the crowd. I almost felt bad for the two or three security guys that had to deal with them.
I'll post some pics and a review tomorrow. Must sleep now.

Melvins Show Reviews / Boston - 10/08/06
October 09, 2006, 01:33:25 AM
Ah, what a lovely day.
Before the show, my friend John and I went to King Richard's Faire. It's this medieval fair they have down in Carver, MA every fall, complete with RPG nerds dressing up in their finest Renaissance clothing. It was more or less a total ripoff; it cost $24 just to get in and the beer was like $6. The wenches weren't even that hot. Lame.

Anyways, on to the show...

So we got off the T on Comm Ave and just as we got through the doorway, the Melvins (including Mackie, I believe) walked right by us. We started following them, thinking that they were heading towards the club. We caught up to them and I said "hey, Buzz". He looked over and said hey and we chatted for a bit. I told him about the stupid fair I went to and he asked if anyone died. Then they went into an Indian restaurant, presumably to eat Indian food. Buzz is a nice fellow, even when he's hungry.

Anyways, we got to the show around 8. Another friend of mine bailed, so I tried to sell the extra ticket, which I eventually did. We went inside and I bought the skull t-shirt. There weren't any posters for the show, even though I'm pretty sure I saw one at gigposters.com. The merch guy was really nice. You should give him money so he can "quit this fucking job and go home."

Ghostigital was interesting. Kind of sludgey/experemental techno with an Iclandic guy ranting over the whole thing. I wish Porn or Altamont played instead, but it was still pretty amusing.

After Ghostigital played, Big Business came on and kicked some serious ass. They played 2 songs, then Dale came out and played 2 songs with them, then they played 2 more songs. I didn't recognize some of them, so they were either new, or I haven't listened to "Head for the Shallow" enough. Jared's stage banter was pretty amusing, especially when Dale was on stage. I can't really recall what they said, but it made me laugh.

Then Buzz came out and they started the set. First of all, the two drummer thing was really amazing. Even better than I expected. Since I'm probably the only person here who hasn't downloaded the new album, it was my first time hearing all the new stuff with the exception of Civilized Worm and Blood Witch. It was weird seeing the Melvins play songs I didn't know. That hasn't happened since the first time I saw them. The set list was basically the same as all the other shows. I was hoping for some Boris and was a little surprised that they didn't play Night Goat. But whatever. It was still a great show. Also, the crowd was very calm tonight. There was no pit, except for one guy (there's always that one guy at a show that manages to piss everyone off, isn't there?) and the head banging was minimal. The crowd was still really into it, though.

I'll try to bring my camera on Wednesday for the Northampton gig so's I can take lots and lots of pictures.

I saw Lightning Bolt at the Living Room a few years ago. After the show, I went back to my car, which was parked on some side street about a 1/4 mile away, and the car parked directly in front of me had had its window smashed in and the stereo stolen. I haven't really felt like going back there since.
I might skip this one because I like my car the way it is. But the boycott thing is bullshit. There was probably just some weird miscommunication between the Melvins/the management (if there was any)/the club owner/AOR. Anyways, I'm seeing them on Wednesday with my little bro. Maybe twice in one week is enough.
Speaking of which, the Boston show was pretty kickass. I'll write a review now.

hey vin,

if it wasn't right in the middle of the week, I'd probably come up for it. I think between Boston, Providence and Northampton, three shows will be satisfying enough. Speaking of which, do you think you'll be coming down for the Northampton gig?

hey!
is there anybody in the northeast part of the country that feels like going to the show in vermont?  there have to be some people in maine or quebec or something, no?
if anyone in the ...say...200 mile radius was interested in coming to the vt show, i'd meet you there and it'd be a ball.  maybe if you email me and prove somehow that you aren't a serial killer i'll even let you sleep on my couch and let you know of a fantastic breakfast place in burlington.
feel free to write if you want to meet at the show.
