Doomed to Fail explores the heaviest music the world has ever heard, tracing doom, sludge, and post-metal as their own distinct (and incredibly loud) traditions. Anselmi covers the bands and musicians that have impacted those styles most―Black Sabbath, Candlemass, Melvins, Eyehategod, Godflesh, Neurosis, Saint Vitus, and many others―while diving into the cultural doom that has spawned such music, from the bombing of Birmingham and hurricane devastation of New Orleans to glaring economic inequality, industrial alienation, climate change, and widespread addiction. Along the way, Anselmi interweaves the musical experiences that have led him to proudly identify as one of the doomed.

I look forward to a longer song by the Melvins on their albums, but some album songs peak before the 5 minute mark. Like Working With God for instance. Or the Mike and the Melvins Three Men and a Baby. If counting solo albums, then King Buzzo's This Machine Kills Artists. Buzz and Dale's Kiss EP's also, but I think they were meant to be short. I think Joe's almost 23 minute opus makes up for that.  Not that these albums are bad or lacking in any way. I mean we got Tres Cabrones with long songs. Buzz's Gift of Sacrifice has a long song. Maybe Mike and the Melvins will make more epic tunes, probably not though.

I remember being the most excited for the "(A) Senile Animal" record to see what the band would come up with. I've been a fan since '98 when my brother picked up a cassette of Gluey Porch Treatments and i remember him telling me the next year of a new album they were coming out with. (The Maggot) The Rutmanis years were great and i hoped they'd never end, but with the Melvins now heading in a new direction with a new bassist PLUS a second drummer, i was ready to see how it would sound.

This came out four years ago on a black friday if i remember right. I couldn't find it in stores right away, so i ordered it online. I don't think that i've watched it more than twice. Better than i thought it would be visually, shot on only their mobile phones. Nice to get a DVD release in a year that saw just that and the rereleases of The Bulls And The Bees/Electroretard on Ipecac. I would have loved to see the Endless Residency on DVD, but alas we get this. Anyway, if i wanted a concert video i could go to YouTube. So in a way this road trip thru the states shows how life is for an underground band dealing with the trials and tribulations that come with it. What are your thoughts on this here DVD?

I never heard the song "Industrial Art" on the Melvins side of this release.  :|

This song rocks so damn hard, probably the best on 3 Men & A Baby.

I DON'T LIKE YOUR KIDS BUT YOU DO!!!

Someone once here mentioned they programmed a different track order of these two cds. I think it was by starting with the first disc track one, then going to disc two track one, and alternating the odd numbers until you run out. Then do the same thing with the even numbers and you got a different playlist to listen to. It would look like:

Lexicon Devil
Poison
In The Rain
Specimen
Leech
Jacksonville
Way Of The World
The Bloat
It's Shoved
Nasty Dogs And Funky Kings
GGIIBBYY
How --++-- Harry Launders Walking Stick Tree
Pigtro
Double Troubled
Spread Eagle
All At Once
Queen
Dallas
Theme
Fast Forward
Forgotten Principles
HDYF
Theresa Screams
Zodiac

Listening to these songs in this order now

Does anyone else find this sort of pointless? Even the backround noise is pretty lame. (at least compared to the end of "Black Stooges."
