Dale Crover, the seminal Melvins' drummer who in recent years has also helmed his own outfit, returns to the road this summer for a California tour in August. The band is rounded out by longtime Melvins' studio partner, Toshi Kasai (guitar/keyboards,) Crover's Altamont bandmate, Dan Southwick (bass) and drummer Mindee Jorgensen (ModPods.)  Tickets for all shows are on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. Pacific Time.

While talking about his upcoming tour, Crover said: "Really excited to be playing with this band again, it's been too long. we're also looking forward to playing some new music we've been working on." A new Dale Crover album is in the works with additional details and Crover also shared that, for the first time ever, he will be playing music from his Melvins' solo EP

SINSAENUM, the extreme death metal project featuring DRAGONFORCE bassist Frédéric Leclercq and former SLIPKNOT drummer Joey Jordison, has issued a brand new single, a previously unreleased cover of the MELVINS song "Hooch".

The song is extremely heavy, while visually, "Hooch" is a tribute to the original version's video with a disturbing twist.

SINSAENUM's latest album, "Repulsion For Humanity", was released on August 10 via earMUSIC.

Las Vegas band THE FAT DUKES OF FUCK has released the music video for the songs "Kodiak Arrest" and "Promise Keepers". Both tracks are taken from the group's upcoming album, titled "A Compendium Of Desperation, Morality And Dick Jokes", which will be released on August 25.

MELVINS, THE JESUS LIZARD, QUI and DEMON LUNG members all perform on, and participated in the making of "A Compendium Of Desperation, Morality And Dick Jokes", which was recorded by production team the Deaf Nephews, a.k.a. Dale Crover of the MELVINS and Toshi Kasai (QUI, MELVINS, BIG BUSINESS), at Sound Of Sirens Studios in Los Angeles.

THE FAT DUKES OF FUCK vocalist and band co-founder Brent Lynch states about the clip: "This video is actually two songs but we liked the way they sounded together, so we made the video for both of them with some fun noise in between.

"The 'Kodiak Arrest' part features Dale Crover and Jeremy [Brenton, THE FAT DUKES OF FUCK drummer] simultaneously on drums. Isn't that fun? The 'Promise Keepers' part also features Dale along with David Yow and the boys from QUI all doing a bit of vocals. The demo version of this tune has Brent doing the middle talking part, but from the beginning we all thought the part needed David Yow. Imagine our surprise when he agreed to do it.

"The video was shot in Sound Of Sirens Studios while recording and features all the fellas mentioned above.

"The song is very loosely based on...you guessed it, The Promise Keepers.

"The Promise Keepers' mission has been to ignite and unite men to become warriors who will change their world through living out the Seven Promises. It's God Shit."

PRIMITIVE RACE returns with a new release this fall, appropriately titled "Volume 2". The outfit, helmed by producer/bass player Chris Kniker (REVCO, LORDS OF ACID), enlisted former FAITH NO MORE singer Chuck Mosley for vocals and MELVINS' drummer Dale Crover for the 10-song collection.

Speaking about METAL CHURCH's relationship with the bands from the early Seattle "grunge" scene like NIRVANA, Kurdt said: "I know Krist [Novoselic, NIRVANA bassist]; he was kind of a friend of mine. They kind of came out to our rehearsals and stuff when we'd have party rehearsals where we started. But, for the most part, we were a big joke to them. They were the cool guys and we were the old metal guys. Even on [NIRVANA's] 'Bleach' [album], [Kurt] Cobain spelled his name like mine — Kurdt. I could never quite figure that out, but I kind of put two and two together, and they were poking fun. Like the MELVINS think I'm just obnoxious and all this stuff, 'cause they're too cool. And we're a bunch of rock stars, and they're too cool. So, you know, fuck 'em."

Kurdt added that he "never had any trouble" with NIRVANA and said that he "always liked" their music. "I thought it was great," he said. "And I liked the MELVINS, and I thought we were friends, especially Buzz [Osborne] and I. And then I come to find out later that we were a big joke, and I was a big joke to all these guys."

He continued: "I never did anything to them. I always liked them. I thought they were great. I thought we were friends. But the whole NIRVANA thing, I kind of figured out later through talking with people that when they were doing their thing, 'cause they were all punky and cool, that we were the metal guys and we're stupid and we're posers and rock stars. So it was really cool not to like us — especially me, being from Aberdeen, and those guys being from Aberdeen, they were, like, 'Fuck those guys!' Oh, well."

According to Vanderhoof, not all the bands from the Seattle grunge scene were disrespectful to METAL CHURCH. "[The ALICE IN CHAINS] guys are great," he said. "Yeah, I like all those guys. Those guys have been really cool, and still cool to us and everything too. But the Grays Harbor bands — you know, the NIRVANAs and the MELVINS and all that kind of stuff — they, again, especially had something against me, apparently. So I thought we were friends, but apparently not. So... fuck those guys."

Buzzo approached the mic, only to let out a grunt before striding around the stage manically strumming a deep, pounding riff. His 30 years as front man of a metal band were certainly in play, as he leered over the edge of the stage and glared at the crowd, before moving to the other side of stage and doing the same. The crowd jumped in shock when he unleashed his voice onto them for the first time. Deep, dark and totally unique, the words snarled out of his mouth. This was an acoustic solo show King Buzzo style, i.e. pretty damn heavy.

Having seen the Melvins multiple times without once hearing Buzzo address the audience, it was a surprise to hear him talk. Possibly provoked by not having the brutal drumming or scuzzy guitar feedback of the Melvins to hide behind while drop-tuning his guitar, this made for an even more intimate show. It wasn't a quick "hi" either; he gave the audience the chance to vote whether they wanted to hear a story about his friends Mike Patton or Iggy Pop. It was no surprise, judging by the Fantômas and Mr Bungle shirts scattered in the crowd, that he told a disgusting story about Patton.

The liner notes are done by Ipecac's Greg Werckman and it was released on Fractured Transmitter which if memory serves was/is a label started up by a guy from Mushroomhead.
