I like to think we are.

Everyone who see The Melvins live, remembers of the intro of "the fool, the meddling idiot" with the noise "biiiiiiiiip biiiiiiiip biiiiiiiip" but what does they use for this sound ?

In the last "Versus magazine" there's an interview of the boss of Amphetamine Reptile record, called Tom Hazelmyer, (alias Haze XXL), and he talks about a project named "Melvin Stooge' Halo Funtime" with Buzzo, Kevin Rutmanis, Ron Asheton and himself

Isn't it distrurbing to play in big festivals like here with a lot of band you must find shitty ?
hmm yeah I don't know it's interesting, that's peculiar to play on big stages. We don't do the soundcheck. It's rare that we're asked to play in such a situation, in fact we're here because we play on tour with tomahawk. I don't care if there's a lot of people or not. The problem is that in festival there's a lot of hippies and people with dirty feet playing  tam-tam this sort of things... A little bit like the Grateful Dead Return and it's not my cup of tea

How did you reach to play in the first part of a Kiss gig ?
it's unbelievable : they asked us if it was possible. They heard about us I don't know how, maybe with our solo albums, we gave a tee shirt to Gene and I weared it ! unbelievable !!!!

Another band you would like to play with ?
No name comes to my mind... I'd like to play with kiss another time of someone very strange like Madonna or Michael Jackson just for adrenalin. But usually we're not excited by this type of gigs. We played sometimes with Tool, they are friends of us. They asked us and we were well paid. But we don't search for this type of big first parts. It's a problem that the people is not here to see us playing. We don't think we have things to prove, we don't try to sell the band to the public. We enjoy ourselves in our gigs, we're totally weak and the public love it.

Do you feel responsible for the success of grunge music and bands like soundgarden ?
No ! No ! that's possible that these bands like us and it's possible we influence some bands but that's all. More, we're not from Seattle ! we were add to the seattle scene because we played a lot there and because we were friends with a lot of bands. Nirvana often speak of us. Paradoxically these band have desappeared but not Melvins ! We cross this shitty period and this horrible decade.

and what about stoner ?
It's just bands influenced by black sabbath and that base everything on this, not very exciting. That's what I listenned when I was 15 and I think I know the stoner. these answer can seem to be blas
