Melvins Discussion / While downloading iTunes.....
September 11, 2012, 04:56:11 PM
I was downloading iTunes onto my laptop, and while looking at the screen thanking me for doing so, one album cover on the iTunes screenshot not only caught my eye, but surprised me at the same time (see attachment).

I always find The Melvins a hard sell when I tell people about them, whether it be friends or casual acquaintances. While it would be easier to recommend a handful of albums, as an individual track is not enough to give someone a rough idea on what to expect from them. But I've noticed a few tracks that others seem to take a liking to, whether I've rammed them down their throat, or seem to show any liking without my input. For this, I ignored cover songs by the band (ie. Candy-O, The Green Manalishi etc):

The War On Wisdom, The Water Glass, Blood Witch.
- these tracks get the approval from one of my best mates, where The Melvins are not exactly his cup of tea, but he's used to me playing them at home at this stage.

Queen
- one of my mates has "Stoner Witch" in her CD collection, so it's become the "token Melvins album" whenever I'm around. :P
- this track seems to be a favourite of hers and her husband, from what I gather.

The Bit
- a good portion of my friends are huge Mastodon fans, so they knew of the cover of this song.
- I've never gotten into Mastodon, so I play this whenever I'm in a pub with said mates, as this is one of two Melvins songs that I seem to find in jukeboxes.

Honey Bucket
- this is the other jukebox track.

Matt-Alec, It's Shoved
- I saw these two songs posted on someone's Facebook page, and I didn't know she listened to them from time to time.

Safety Third
- there is this DJ in one pub that I used to go to years ago, and he used to play a few decent tracks before the club got busy, and this was one of the tracks he used to play. But once the pub became packed, he was reduced to play 3-4 System Of A Down every hour.

If anyone has any other similar stories, or even have a certain track or two they use on others (hence the poll above), feel free to comment below.

EDIT
A History Of Bad Men
- one time I posted on my FB page the clip of Lindsay Lohan dancing to The Melvins in "I Know Who Killed Me", and I was asked what song was in the background by someone I know.
