Anyone going to these? From the reviews, it sounds as though there won't be any box sets left for sale the second night. Anybody going feel like grabbing an extra and meeting up the second night?

Melvins Show Reviews / Northampton, MA 8/10
August 11, 2008, 06:58:01 AM
I'm guessing no one else on the board went to this show, so here goes. Got there later than usual. Crowd was already pretty full by the time Moss and Co. took the stage. They made some noise and repetitive riffing while Dale beat the crap out of his drums. It was a good way to warm up the show.
The Biz came on. Started with Hands Up as usual. They seemed a little off on this song, but they tightened up after that. Coady had a problem with something on his kit during one song. He had to stand up and lay off the kick while a roadie fixed the problem. Played a lot of Waterworks, and the new stuff. Oh Jared's shirt said "Fart Hard?". Coady had a cool   percussion unit that was electronically manipulated during one of the new songs.
Long break before Melvins. I had a good spot in the front by now. Came out and did Nude With Boots. Jared was wearing a Captain's outfit, complete with a pipe. Buzz didn't have his cowgirl mumu. Dog Island and Dies Irea were awesome. Crowd was excited for Civilised Worm, but they really lost their shit for Honey Bucket, which I guess is really easy to headbang to. I was so busy defending myself and my wife from moshers that I didn't really get to pay attention to it. The (A) SA stuff was great. I got the impression that they've gained a lot of new fans with that album, judging by the enthusiasm these songs garnered. During the Star Spangled Banner, someone jumped off the stage. It was in the middle of the last verse. The band stopped, and Dale got up and went for the guy. Dude had already jumped, though. Buzz called him out, and threatened ending the show, which was my greatest fear, because I was looking forward to Boris. They sang the Star Spngld Banner again. This time Jared sang in his "captain's voice", which was pretty fucking funny. They played Boris and it was fucking awesome. BUzz's vocals sound like they do on Alive at the Fucker club-really scary and brutal. The end of the song was great. Coady's whining wails are really weird though. Oh yeah My Generation was awesome. So all in all the show was pretty good. I don't know if people are hearing Roadbull at any one these shows, but they didn't play it. Oh yeah Eye Flys. Another highlight. Got three(!) of Coady's sticks after the show, and his smelly disgusting gloves, which are airing out right now. Thanks roadie! Oh yeah, no Northampton poster. I guess they didn't show up....bye!
