They actually played a 'medly'. With Yo' Heart Not Yo' Hands + another song (i was thinking Leeech or Euthanasia).

Great show, one of the better shows I've been to this year. Decent crowd that was into the band, no assholes to speak of. Buzz's guitar sound was nice and meaty, and excellent selection of songs.

Any word on the opening bands? Big Biz?

Regardless, see you guys there!

While doing my standard venue sweep to see if anything was coming up, I stumbled across these two shows and nearly pissed myself (well... maybe a little). After immediately getting my ticket for the Lysol/Eggnog night, I came here to see who was going. I'll eventually grab a ticket for the Houdini night as well.

If there is a meet & greet and group rape, count me in!

Amazing show!

Got there at the end of Altamont, didn't notice Coady, or Jared playing with them (unless one of them turned into a slightly smaller asian gentleman).

Hot Sauce was great! His second song was 'I love Rock'n'Roll' by JJ.

Men of Porn was awesome, not what I expected and I was pleasantly surprised. I'll have to go get their album now.

Big Business' set was amazing! Really got the crowd going! Not sure how I feel about the fast version of Easter Romantic, the damn song is fast enough without them speeding it up! Their little 'dueling' between Jared and Dale in the middle of the song was great. Dale came out and played guitar on 'Just as the day was dawning' and 'Easter Romantic' then went back stage. He and Buzz came out at the end of their set. My question is, when Buzz and Dale came out, did they play a Big Business song or a Melvins song? I didn't recognize it but it F*CKING AWESOME!

Melvins set was great! Some of the older songs they played were great and they made the newer songs sound even better live!

Its great seeing them on the tour this late when they are really playing well together and everything is just keyed in.

Back in the early 90's, Slap-a-Ham records put out a couple 7"s called Bllleeeeaaauuurrrrgghhh!

These 7"s were their little jokes and contained roughly 30 bands each. Of course each track was no longer than 3-5 seconds and most of the bands were grindcore/metal/punk. The whole thing was tongue-in-cheek.

The reason I brought it up was because I vaguely remember the Melvins having a track on one of these 7"s but I can't seem to find proof. I want to say it had a red sleeve/black vinyl. The only reference to Bllleeeeaaauuurrrrgghhhh! I've seen is:
http://www.discogs.com/label/Slap+A+Ham+Records

It would make sense since Slap-A-Ham put out two releases for the Melvins: 8" flexi and 5" clear vinyl

Oh my!  It's THE deck.

^5   :)

What does the grip side look like?

The grip side has no tape and is kind of a dark orange-ish color. No graphics so you aren't missing anything.

I've got most of what you guys have posted plus this skateboard deck done by Mackey. I think only 50 were made. Got it through a friend I met on the interweb when i ran a Melvins page.

Melvins Lyrics & Tabs / Re: Melvins Tabs
September 16, 2006, 12:50:06 PM
Back in the day (95 - 96), I ran the first Melvins site on the web. Just something to teach myself some HTML, meet people, and praise the Melvins. Part of it was a tab section. A lot of people contributed. I still have the tabs plus the tab page. I've zipped them up but can't seem to get them attached here for you. Anyone I can send the zip file to for posting?

Enjoy!

Melvins Discussion / Re: Your favorite live Melvins show?

I think around '94 or '95 they did a tiny tour with Urge Overkill (Melvins opened).

Friend of mine and I drove to Sacramento to see them at a shitty little club (Cactus Club?). Melvins intro'd with Larry which blew us away. They were on a 2 ft. high stage and it was tiny. Buzz had a little squirrel pinned on the back of his pants. Mark D was playing bass at the time.

The best part of the show was these three little teen girls that got pushed onto the stage because of fans (sitting there so they wouldn't get squished). Buzz started singing Sacrifice and pretty much serenaded it to them. My friend and I screamed the lyrics at them while this was going on.

I haven't seen them in a few years, not since that Evening With the Melvins that BlackSanta mentioned where they played 3 sets. I'm pretty excited to see them on Nov 26th. See you guys there!

Sorry I don't care for Kevin. Maybe I just don't care for the era of Melvins releases he was apart of. That's not his fault I know, but there is a correlation there.

We should probably go back to talking about (A) Senile Animal.

I've been playing it at work all day.

NOTE: Co-workers don't appreciate Melvins

Got my promo copy last night (thanks mackle).

Notes of import (ie. theories):
- All music was written by KingB. I don't think Jared or Coady had a say on the music. Its not necessarily their style. It is pure KingB though
- KingB's guitar tone has changed. This is probably to accomodate Jared's bass tone/style
- The song style seems a little classic, like if you put Ozma or Gluey Porch on 45rpm instead of 33rpm
- Gems so far: The Talking Horse, Civilized Worm, A History of Bad Men
- Does Civilized Worm remind you guys of With Teeth off of Lysol?
- When the hell did KingB start using real lyrics? Have I not listened to the Melvins in that long?!?
- Girls don't appreciate you listening to the new album with headphones on while attempting to have sex with them. I didn't get to listen to the album until this morning...

Pros:
- Vocals are amazings. Jared backing KingB works really really well!!
- Two words: Double drums!
- Lyrics on A History of Bad Men are amazing. The melody for the vocals is really good too. Same goes for Civilized Worm.
- Heavy. They don't fuck around on this album. No crazy noise shit.
- No Kevin Rutmanis
- Good production

Cons:
- KingB's guitar tone has changed to something I would consider less powerful (just my opinion)
- Some of the songs aren't catching my attention. Maybe I can't keep up with them?

I would think the hardcore Melvins fans will really dig this album. I'm not sure I would say this album would make the Melvins more accessible. Maybe more listens will change my mind on that.

I do like this album and have been waiting for it since last year. Its Christmas in August!
