Currently I have been listening to a much better band: Wolfmother. They rock.

My eyes... I can't un-see it!!!!

I just hope we get another super heavy melvins album in the not too distant future. Been a decade since Maggot.  :P

(A)SA was only two years ago.  That one wasn't heavy enough for you?

Cause I have a hard time NOT throwing myself around the room listening to that album.  Pure Rock ENERGY!!!

Yeah, its been a while, but I've been busy (heck, I haven't even updated my crappy little comic in half a year!).

Not too busy to buy "Nude With Boots" though!  My review:  Its good!

Are you still a big Joan Jett fan, al?

Yup.  "Bad Reputation" is in Rock Band 2 and I love rockin' the drums for that song.

I was also listening to "Flashback" yesterday, I really like the version of "Cherry Bomb" she does live with L7.

Melvins Discussion / Beck has sampled the Melvins???
November 22, 2008, 12:26:29 PM
I'm sure I'm not the first on here to discover this but, I was looking through the notes of my copy of Beck's "Mellow Gold" today and look at what I saw:

"Beercan" contains sampling from "Hogleg" by The Melvins.  Courtesy of The Melvins and Boner Records.

So I listen to both songs and compare, sure enough, Beck uses the opening feedback screech about 2:30 into "Beercan."

Learn something new everyday, I guess.

I go through different musical phases too, but whenever I come back to my Melvins albums they always impress, usually for a different reason than before.

As heavy bands go, the Melvins are awesome.

Melvins Discussion / Re: Melvins nude photos

I actually clicked on this topic because my reaction to "Melvins nude photos" was more along the lines of, "WHAAAA?!?!?  Theres NO way, this is a joke or scam or something."

And I would rather break my iPod than have a Linkin Park song on it.

I agree I would have liked to hear his kick drums a little better.

All in all, though, this is unquestionably one of my all time favorite metal albums. Its just sooooo heavy.  I love that 2nd half of Amazon (the one called AMAZON).  Such a good riff, that bending followed by the chugging, just over and over and over...

BWEeooo CHUGGACHUGGA bweeOOO CHUGGACHUGGA bwEEOOooo CHUGGACHUGGA....

Rules my world.

oh really? capt obvious. HAT is the best mid-to-late period album they ever recorded,
HAT era had the best tours as well. The only slip was the message saved bunk, and rutmanis
getting down with mr brownstone.

I, uh, apologise for voicing my opinion? :(

I listened to it a few more times and I find I am liking it more.

One thing I did notice is how prominent Mr. Rutmantis's bass is on this one (as opposed to, say, The Maggot, where he just seems to follow Buzz's guitar around... not that its a bad thing when the album KICKS THAT HARD!!!!).

Its nice to hear him more.

Damn. I should have bought a bunch of them at the shows, and made some good money. All the reason why Ipecac should re-release this ASAP.

It'd be nice.  Its another Melvins album I want but don't have.

Only if Ipecac re-releases it, it'll cost like $17.

Believe me, I'm just as confused with my reaction to HAT too.

I hear it and I think "standard post-Atlantic Melvins album" even though NOTHING the Melvins have EVER DONE was STANDARD ANYTHING!

I just got HAT (finally, I know).

I do like it, but its weird, because this is the first one that I feel like describing as "just another Melvins album."

Which seems odd since the Melvins don't really have a history of repeating themselves, and the one thing I've always loved about them is that all their albums are very unique from each other while still sounding like the Melvins.

So HAT doesn't necessarily SOUND like another Melvins album, perhaps its just how I imagine the average Melvins album to sound even though they never really put out an average album.

It is a good album though, just seems... unremarkable... to me?

I do wish the production was a little heavier.
