Messages - Doody the Clown

I haven't seen too many recorded shows where he's talked, so it was a pleasant surprise for him to stay on stage during the intermission and talk for a good 20 minutes.

Also notable is that they played into the intermission with Dies Iraea and picked it right back up after they all got back on stage.  Buzz also made everybody act like they had just come back and applaud instead of acknowledge they'd been on stage the whole time. :D

edit: There was also a few minutes where they weren't aware that Buzz was staying on stage, so they were playing music and had the mic cut while he stood there waving his arms and yelling for them to turn the mic back on.

Did the guys from DEBRIS show up to see the show?

I don't think so.  Buzzo was talking about bands from Oklahoma and Debris came up, but I'm sure if they were there they'd have talked to Buzzo and he'd mention one of them being there.

He also told a story about them playing with The Flaming Lips in Seattle in the early 80s.  Supposedly Dale was too young to get in at the time so he had to stay in the van, but at least his mom let him come.  Apparently only a few people showed up, but they played and Buzz said he had a good time and enjoyed it.  Then, he met the band over a decade later while playing at a festival.  He talked to Wayne Coyne and mentioned the show they played together saying "It was a good show."  Wayne Coyne looked at him with a blank stare on his face and just said "No it wasn't."

This was my first Melvins show, and what better way to start it all than with a full Evening with the Melvins.  Apparently Down dropped out so the Melvins played two sets, with an intermission in between where Buzz quizzed us about Oklahoma (and how much it sucks), took questions, told stories about Leif Garret and his cocaine habit, and offered various audience members heroin.

Can't remember the setlist, but they played a few favorites (Oven, Let God Be Your Gardener, Hooch, The Bit) so I am completely satisfied.

Pics are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/klownboy/sets/72157622021916675/

And I have a video of Hooch going up.  The audio isn't that great but it actually turned out better than I expected, considering how bad my camera is and how fucking loud the Melvins are.

So is Weedeater confirmed to be playing all the shows?  Down and Weedeater were originally scheduled for a few days before the Melvins show, that was canceled and now Down is playing with Melvins and Weedeater is playing the day after at another club.

I'm wondering if I'll be able to see Weedeater two nights in a row.

So I'm lucky enough to have the Melvins headlining in my city, pretty weird as you'd expect Down (FEATURING PHIL ANSELMO OF PANTERA in huge letters) to be the biggest draw in Oklahoma, where Pantera is pretty much considered the height of metal.  Why would they headline in Oklahoma where the last Melvins show only drew in <100 people?  All the event calendars I've seen even have "MELVINS" with all the support acts "TBA."  I'm hoping BB will play a set, at the very least.

I'd like to see Buzz go on the Larry King Show. That'd be all kinds of awkward, which in my book translates to hilarity.
Buzz filling in for Larry King would be much better.

I always thought Revolve never translated very well live, they always seem to want to rush through it.

This is me when I was 12, I think.

Hair isn't as curly now but it's a lot longer.

I wonder if he's a fan of the show or if it's just because the host likes the Melvins that he keeps getting invited back.

Can't stand the show normally, and despise Fox News moreso than the other cable news networks, I just watch it to laugh at the ridiculous outrage their conservative pundits have over the littlest thing any Democrat does while largely ignoring the horrible things any and all politicians do.  Red Eye didn't even seem to have a conservative slant before Obama was elected, now it's pretty obvious and I feel sorry for anybody working at the network who has to fit into their biased rhetoric to appease Rupert Murdoch and their insane political base.

Also why does it say "liberal Fox News program."  I know it's a comedy show and they're not very political either way but the conservative bias has been pretty obvious this past year.  Are they really trying to frame the show as being liberal, or was that supposed to be a joke?

I loved this part so much I made an avatar out of it.

I'd be happy paying for a Melvins show and getting 80 minutes of Buzz doing spoken word.

did you not see him playing a gay looking baby blue SG with Fanto?

That and whatever he is playing in the video for Revolve.

It's because even though the songs are mostly short, playing them is so damn tiring.

I learned Oven and my arms and brain hate me for it.
