Melvins Discussion / Re: Melvins and Jeff Buckley
November 12, 2018, 04:24:29 PM
Funnily enough I did in fact ask them this very question a long long time ago....2001 I think and from memory Buzz and Dale didn't have any idea what the shout out to them and Shostakovich was about other than presumably he liked the Melvins and Buzz's compositional skills. Not convinced that they knew each other but Dale did see that he was wearing an Altamont t shirt on the news when he first heard about Jeff's untimely death, and also that he didn't have the first clue where he got it.

Bwahahaha...Steady on, luv! Don't want to give people the wrong idea!

It's black but the pirate is pink! The only reason I say that is I haven't decided what I am wearing tonight...anyway, see ya in a bit and enjoy the Ginger Baker doc...

Last night there were the 2 T-shirts and no posters  :(

Jules, I have no idea what you look like but I am aiming to be at the Prince around half 5....I'll be the guy with the pink pirate Fantomas bag...Happy 40th gig, I think it's my 38th or something - let's drink cake and eat beer....see ya there! ;-)

By the sounds of this review, it proves that Buzz was sage-like in calling the album "Freak Puke"!

Joe Preston's solo EP signed by Kevin 'Ass' Rutmanis? It's certainly one of the more ridiculous ones I have...

Hasn't anyone noticed yet that if you play Slayer's "Reign In Blood" backwards and slow it down to a tenth of the speed it's actually "Gluey Porch Treatments in its entirety"?

I'm glad you said it that way round, cos for me songwise "And Justice For All" I think has the best songs on it but I think the production is the worst on any Metallica album...the drums sound like someone hitting a piece of paper with a carpet slipper (I know cos I've tried!)

Melvins Discussion / Re: Melvins 1983 EP

Wow. On several counts, first that I live in the UK and this only took a week to get here! With a bank holiday weekend smack in the middle of it to boot...and now it's finally here, it's well worth the wait! Enjoying this immensely, proving once again that no matter what the Melvins do it's the best of that particular musical endeavour's kind...and it's authentic to the 80s, even down to production values/style.  Yet again it's been a very good year for really really good Melvins!

guess we'll have to wait and see...i can't really see the logic in sending someone 5 copies of the same cd (unless it's to outdo the flaming lips with zaireka and you have to listen to them all simultaneously on 5 different cd players?!)...i interpreted it as 1 cd with all 5 of the different covers...so not really 7 dollars a cd....more like 7 dollars per cover and the music comes free with them! hoorah in any case!

oh ok...maybe it is 5 copies of the same CD!   maybe they are keeping the costs down and flooding the market to reduce the chances of people fleecing it up on ebay?!

Sorry do you mean 7 dollars a cd or 35 dollars a CD with 5 different covers?! That was my impressions anyhow...and what I purchased!

Alas I wasn't the show in 1994 at the Garage but that would have been proper mental! Napalm Melvins! How IS the Universe still intact, seriously?! In the Garage? The only explanation for the survival of the human race in a venue that small was that the venue IMPLODED in a blaze of death and vanished into another Universe where it still broadcasts live to this Universe today.

Is that a fair numbering system, would you say? or are you gonna take me down to 35 because it's 35 SEPARATE OCCASIONS that i paid to see them?! I'm not too bothered either way - I've seen the Melvins MORE than 30 times and that makes me feel all HAPPY inside

Some day soon, I will begin the mammoth task of finishing off that Ipecac book I've been working on for a while (a slight excerpt was in that post a while back about "Hugh") , but for now, I'm afraid, preparation for a job interview tomorrow!

Goodnight from Europe
