Melvins Discussion / Sick as Glen?
November 13, 2006, 04:06:07 PM
Just got this shirt today. It seems to be some wierd recurring theme throughout this tour. Anyone know what the deal is with PBR? Am I as sick as Glen or am I just some freaky stalker??

Melvins Discussion / TIM MOSS Appreciation Thread
August 17, 2006, 09:15:54 PM
I present THEE TIM MOSS.

How about posting your Moss stories about the almighty MELVINS tour manager. I for one always appreciate his wonderful hospitality at the shows, he is cool as hell AND; plays a mean guitar through an ORANGE amp stack if you've ever seen him with Men of Porn. Anyway, my favorite story is when I first met him I was drunk as hell at the MELVINS 20th show at the Capitol Theater in Olympia, WA. I was a bit loopy and kept calling him "Frank" instead of Tim. I think since he had such a huge beard maybe I thought he was Frank Beard of ZZ Top. Or maybe I thought he was "Frank Bank". I wasn't a dick or anything, but the cool thing was, he could have easily brushed me off as a drunken fool; but he was a great host and has always said hi at every show since. He's damn near as busy as Crover before every gig but if you see him, say hi. Just don't touch the beard.............

Melvins Discussion / MELVINS bassist

If you could pick a bassist for the MELVINS upcoming tour with Big Biz (assuming that they may or may not use Jared as a bassist) who would you like to see??

Melvins Discussion / MELVINS HANGOVER
November 06, 2005, 04:23:53 PM
I've heard it said before that the day after a show, after the Melvins have left your town, and there's no hope of seeing them until next time; you sort of go into a funk for a day. It's like your best piece of poon just up and died. CRAP, gotta' wait for the Melvins Big Biz tour; however long that's gonna' take. I was at last night's show, running on next to no sleep now 'cause I was up with my kids. Now hair of the dog and ALTAMONT The Monkeys Uncle pegged at max volume. Damn that is the best CD I've heard in a long time. Kind of mainstream compared with Melvins, but shit does it sound good. Nice and heavy on some parts.   :)

What can I say. It was a night to remember. Altamont was great, Dale slayed with his Gibson Les Paul Gold Top, Toshi was rocking on keyboard and guitar. The Melvins set was sweet, pigs was cool it really punches you hard in the gut at the end. The Jelvins were tight as hell and Jello was prancing around doing his Jello thing. I think Buzz gets a kick out of him. I spoke with Buzz, Dale, and Jello and all were very cool as usual. Vinney, I asked Buzz about you and he said he remembered the interview and said most was true, peppered with occasional BS. The set list was the same as other shows, but Jelvins opened with halo of flies. Mark arm of Mudhoney was also there checking it out. This isn't the best review, but all I can say is I was blown away again by the amazing talent of these guys. And.....oh yeah...Moss kicks ass.  :x

I saw Rhett E. Rock there but didn't see the Reaper. I was able to spot Rhett because of his avatar pic.

Melvins Show Reviews / Melvins pics 03-07-04
July 11, 2005, 07:15:08 AM
Many of you might have already seen these but I think they are great so I wanted to make sure. I don't know who took the pics, but some are really good and they deserve credit. On another note, I threw away all my crappy 80's metal cassettes that had been sitting in a box in the closet, and I feel cleansed. Electroretard arrived in the mail the same day, and as I was listening to "Lovely Butterflies" I realized that I will miss Kevin's bass humping antics.

Melvins Discussion / Dillard
April 24, 2005, 03:56:17 PM
I saw Mike Dillard's band "King Fu" last night in Olympia. They did one Melvins cover "Queen". The rest was fast rock, mostly original, a couple other covers. They're not sludgy or "Melviny", but they were tight. Dillard's a good drummer, it was interesting to see him live. He's got advance copies of the new Melvins release and I checked it out. For those who don't know, it's all Dillard on the upcoming '83 mangled demos. There is a hilarious live radio broadcast on the CD, plus a recording of Buzz, Lukin, Dillard and friends arguing over some food. There are a lot of great songs on it, I thought it might turn out to be sort of a "collectors" release for die hard fans, but it's really good. Mackie's artwork is cool, and Buzz wrote 3 pages of liner notes that are also pretty damn hilarious about his early days growing up before he left for California. i.e. throwing molotov cocktails, getting chased by the cops, and other general drunken debauchery.

Melvins Discussion / KEVIN IS BACK!!
February 24, 2005, 10:48:15 PM
I know you chaps already broke the outstanding news, but this is such a fine announcement it deserves its own headline. Can anyone who saw the london show give any particulars about Kevin's playing or antics? Did everyone freak out when he walked out? Did Buzzo make up some weird comment about Kevin being missing? Man, I for one am glad he's back. Kevin has been a good fit for the band and he completes the circle.

Melvins Discussion / MELVINS UK
January 28, 2005, 08:27:10 PM
Does anyone have any idea what kind of set they are going to play in the UK? Is it POTRE, or more "traditional" Melvins stuff? I bet they go with a little of both and use David Scott Stone on bass. Anyone know?

Melvins Discussion / Melvins show in Seattle tomorrow?
December 29, 2004, 10:08:21 PM
Anyone going to the all ages Melvins/Jello show in Seattle tomorrow? How about the New Year's bash? Anyone recording? I have not the gear to do so. I'm guessing we'll probably see SDSS and maybe Adam Jones? Maybe the clock will strike midnight at the New Year's show and Kevin will jump out and start humping his bass? Damn this is going to be a good show!
