Melvins Discussion / King Buzzo EP
February 07, 2005, 05:42:22 AM
imho the best is the dale ep, maybe because it has 4 songs and some people say it's like altamont, buzzo only has 2 melvins songs (isabella & annum), one early foo fighters song (skeeter, written and preformed (without buzz) by dave grohl (dale nixon), recorded december 23, 1990 for the late! pocketwatch album/demo) and porg, which is not much of a song, especially on a ep that short, joes ep is wierd: first off I hate the eagle has landed, I don't like collages of sound samples at all (that's just what all that european techno crap is all about, even though I have to admit that the eagle has landed is much much more interresting than that), bricklebrit is a classic and hands first flower is kinda like the pigs of the roman empire, the song not the entire album

btw, I have been updating the melvins on wikipedia the past few weeks

Quote from: Grungeisdeadlooks like casue its all pertaining to nirvana shit.
well I was too lazy to take the entire biography off the melvins page, but I couldn't let the false info on there (and all that was there was about him being in nirvana, expect his birthday)

Melvins Discussion / Prick or Woner Stitch
January 19, 2005, 05:29:05 AM
Quote from: AlmightyRetardThey released Prick first to get some money to record Stoner Witch...I read that somewhere.
it is wrong because that would mean that prick was meant to sell a not of records and as we all know buzz has admit that it's a joke and no real melvins record, it's a snivlem record

you properly read about that money stuff in the allmusic.com review of prick and if allmusic is right on the release dates then prick was released august 5, 1994 and the stoner witch release was in october '94

Melvins Discussion / Green River does Leech
January 15, 2005, 11:50:04 AM
buzz liner notes to the gluey porch treatments rerelease say that leeech was originally by green river but jeff ament told buzz that they hated it because it was too repetitive and they only recorded for thier first demo tape and I guess that's where delerium got it

I just got around listening to a interview form 2001 where dale said a single was supposed to come out on sub pop, but sub pop tried to rip them off so they went and put it out on sympathy records

I guess they put anal satan on it after that happened considering it's lyrics:
you're going to the principal's office
you're going to get a spanking
anal satan
you know jon, you're really being such a prick
anal satan
you know bruce, you're really being such a prick
anal satan

beware the wrath of the melvins ;)

Melvins Discussion / Dave Grohl calls Buzz
January 12, 2005, 07:32:50 PM
well, michael azerrad's 'come as you are' tells that story litte different, but then again it claims skeeter quit scream due to problems with his girlfriend (no word about heroin at all):

dave called buzz. buzz suggested dave to call krist for a dummer job and gave dave krists number. buzz then called krist to 'warn' him that dave might call about it. then dave called krist. krist asked a few questions and made dave come up to join them.

note: I would have typed it all down word by word but my bro dosen't have the english version of the book

Melvins Discussion / Melvins Bootleg
November 14, 2004, 11:09:27 AM
yeah it is mislabeled, it really is 'the green manalishi (with the two pronged crown)' and not 'the ballard of dwight fry'

Quote from: klumpor you can call "unt keine schnabel" :P
'unt'? you properly mean 'und' the german word (if that's suppost to be german, anyways) for 'and', and either it must read 'und kein schnabel' (singular) or 'und keine schn

April 12, 2004, 01:19:55 PM
Quote from: AnonymousWhen they played Dwight Fry on New Year's Eve with Jello, Buzz sang the missing verse that is in the original Alice Cooper version but not on Lysol.  Only time I have heard them do that.

they also did the last verse at the 2003-01-25 san diego show, you could get it off scotts ftp

Melvins Discussion / translate? german interview
April 05, 2004, 10:17:19 AM
I started to translate it, but I won't have the time to finish it, I think I fucked it up the beginning but anyway:
[code]MELVINS (OX-Fanzine #52)

Freestyle

TOMAHAWK and MELVINS together on tour - what a pack! And above all these two bands have found each other under the roof of Ipecac Records, they share Kevin Rutmanis as a member, and both bands have a similar 'we-do-what-we-want-whatever-comes-up'-approach.

And a conversation with Buzz Osborne, the best hairstyled man under the sun, was due anyway.

So, foward to Cologne, where we met a chatty Buzz Osborne in a good mood just be fore their
set. Oh yeah, the MELVINS: since 20 years the punkiest interpretation of BLACK SABBATH!

The MELVINS are a band, that I connect with the dark side of life, I'm confused that you
you go out to play at eight with bright sunshine.

"Well, I'm delighted. It's something different. Early in. Early out. Perfect. We would prefer to play at three in the afternoon anyway, our shows would for sure be way better."

Why? Biorhythm?

"That's the time, you'll do your soundcheck. Everything is perfect, but noone's there to
hear it. And then you wait six hours till the show, sit around, wait, bores yourself and
that's not very motivating. That's why we started to rehearse in the afternoon and not in the evening a long time ago. But shows have to be in the evening, cause the people have
to work during the day, we have to live with that."

Apropos working: what are you up to?

"Expect playing with the MELVINS, I play with Mike in FANT
