If buzz is friends with the guys in tool thats good enough for me.  Taste is subjective.  If you like em fine.  If not who cares.  I personally have no great love of tool but they are good musicians and put out what they want.   I respect that.

Frank Black records all of his albums "live" to 4 track.  In essence there is very little studio editing as the band is playing live together rather than recording parts separately laying down tracks, then mixing etc.  Playing live never requires an audience.  I remember reading somewhere  there were a few people around during the recordings but probably not what you would consider an audience.

Melvins Discussion / Re: Revolve / Metallica
August 18, 2006, 04:50:05 PM
I have also noticed recently that Revolve is definitely their most "metallica sounding" song I've heard from the Melvins.

Sometimes the Melvins covers say just "Melvins" and sometimes, "the Melvins".

Melvins Discussion / Re: Early Tour Stirrings

Yup sounds like the Melvins will be joined by Big Business (as I'm sure yall are aware of) and David Scott Stone.
I thought I heard they would be playing the Roseland, but I didn't see any confirmation of that on the website.

Dale said, "Some folks backstage said they didn't recognize me cause I'd gotten fat.  Well, Elvis got fat too..."

Very nice interview. I'm surprised he said (or typed?) thanks for the support. I thought he didn't give a crap about "fans".

I think every artist enjoys support from their fans.  It's when dumbasses can't tell the difference between opinion and fact and start thinking they knows whats best for someone elses band that pisses off artists.  Everyone wants their music appreciated, they just don't necessarily want peoples opinion on every decision they want to make with their art work.

wow, does every topic on this board devolve into drug discussion? I thought the melvins were straight-edge?

As far as I know the melvins are not a straight-edge band per se.  Not that it's any of my business but i hear Dale is known to smoke the occasional joint.

I sent the compressed synced version to Toolvins earlier tonight.  He should be posting it later.

I am attempting to make a smaller synced version.  Should be done compressing in the morning, though I don't have a place to post it.
