Melvins Album Discussion / Re: Nude With Boots

I just don't see why someone wants a shit quality recording which is what 100% of leaks are.
Most leaks are CD rips, and sound exactly the same as the finished product unless they are leaked before the mastering or recording process is finished.

It's not like somebody got a directional microphone and pointed it into the studio while they were playing the songs.

I really don't want to get into it,  maybe that was the case years ago, but I doubt there will be any difference in distinguishable audio quality between the CD you'd buy at a store and the MP3s floating around the internet at this point in time.

And if there is, it's because the person who ripped it used a crappy encoder and a low bitrate.  If they had ripped it to a lossless FLAC file or a higher-quality (V0) MP3 using LAME, there'd be no distinguishing the sound at all.

I have a hunch that the advance copies that this leak originates from might not be mastered.  Has anyone else noticed how quiet it is compared to other records?  In any case I'll be buying it the day it comes out, from my local record shop and immediately making a fresh rip straight from the CD.

don't know, i think it's the definitive version, with the master done...doesn't seem to me that it's so quiet compared to the other records

nothing about Dies Iraea?!
at this moment my favourite track from the new album.
it had been since the Stoner Witch-Stag-Honky era they didn't throw out of the cylinder a song like this. What a fantastic atmosphere!it reminds me to Ennio Morricone,or if you prefer,to the end of Roadbull+Harry Lauders Walking Stick Tree+Shevil

one of the albums that has changed my life!
think the band was really "into" Pink Floyd at the time.
more obscure than the previous Stag, if i remember correctly it was recorded less than a week.they don't really love it, don't know why.
anyway, i have always thought to Mark Deutrom as the most influent third piece in the band, even if i prefer Kevin as bass player.
hope nobody will kill me for this opinion   :)

So what do you people think of the album cover? Looks like it's the final cover since it's officially been on that Ipecac promo site. At first I thought I didn't like it but only because of the fact that I'm not a big fan of dogs like this... but on the other hand I'm a big fan of innocent looking Melvins covers so it's actually pretty cool.

And while we're at it, I think it's a good thing that we're all gonna buy this album and even more extra merch. My problem with the whole leak thing is that I don't feel that I'm supposed to listen to it three months early. I don't even know how things like that happen in the first place. When I first heard about the album I was sure I wouldn't gonna listen to it early. It's really early in my opinion. Actually I don't know why I'm writing all this since it's just my worthless opinion and after all everyone can decide what they do. I for one had the feeling that many here don't have any problems with it and that's why I thought it over again. It's okay I guess. I haven't listened to it yet. Still I will feel bad if I do. It's not the same thing like returnig from the cd store with the actual disc in your hands...And another thing, I don't think listening to it early or not has anything to do with being a "real" fan or not, I don't think people can argue about things like that. It doesn't make any sense to me.

Wow. I don't think anyone really cares :)

first: as soon as it will came out i will surely purchase it ,as i have done for every other melvins album.
second: i have listened to it once.
the problem about the real fan or not is not a problem of mine cuz i must not show to anybody my love for the melvins.also with  me  the real problem with the whole leak thing is that it's not the same thing like returnig from the cd store with the actual disc in your hands..but it's too hard and it happened yet with ASA and with POTRE...just like a illness for me.
surely i totally respect who don't want to download it now.
and still don't understand provocations or hypocrisy, anyone can decide what they do.
talking about the cover arts (if it's official),i really like it,pure melvins style ,cool and trash at the same time!

yep lombardo crover and bozzio or coady could be an amazing drum line up but mike patton is so boring singing and screaming with his 1500 vocal effects on the melvins songs..
just an  example ...listening to joan of arc in this live you really like when he screams ua the middle of the song?expecially thinking to the original version?in my opinion  it's terrible....i really love fantomas and obviously every single note from the melvins ,but think that melvins+fantomas doesn't's just an opinion.

this thing about Dillard in my opinion is one of the most clear example of  how great and genuine the melvins attitude is...especially thinking to their twenty and more year career :D
