Melvins Discussion / Re: melvins audio tones...
« on: July 24, 2008, 08:26:30 AM »
in my opinion he used a Telecaster only when he did overdubs, but maybe i'm wrong and he used a Telecaster both on Billy Fish both on  SIP.speaking of live show yep ,Buzzo's guitar tone has changed a little, believe principally he doesn't use the rat pedal as he did before.btw,Buzzo's guitar tone from Lysol is my favourite.my favourite Dale's drum sound is from Lysol too (the snare drum's sound is taken from Bohnam's snare drum on Led Zeppelin's Houses of the holy).obviously i love Dale's sound also on Stoner Witch and on Stag, believe Stoner Witch got the best drum sound in the history of music :).speaking of bass players, never seen a show with Jared, listening to the audio recording,or video recording,i noticed his sound is perfect with Big Biz where there isn't guitar or where it isn't predominant, but with the Melvins his sound is a little full of treble so it's also a little bit confused with Buzzo's guitar tone.anyway,i love his style and sound, although my favourite sound is Mark Deutrom's,who also is my favourite bass player.

R: You're always recording your ideas at home?

BO: Yeah, with a little four-track, it's really just the ideas. I have a lot of ideas and I just have to figure out what I can do with them. Like there's a song on our new record, "Suicide in Progress", that we recorded for our last record, but it didn't fit in. But I had it written when Kevin was still in the band! We just never worked it out into a song. Whatever.

:? believe glen is right, but also you are right cuz Dale said SIP advanced from the ASA's session.if i remember correctly Buzz recently said in a interview that he always used to record some guitar riff on a little 4 track mixer at home before proposing them to Dale or to the band,he said also the SIP's guitar riff was written during the Kevin era.believe Dale referred to the fact that the song had been completed during the ASA's session.btw i have to check out for that Buzz's interview,i'm searching on the board, does anyone remember which was the interview please?

How do you know for sure Billy Fish and Suicide In Progress were written for (A)SA? Do you have a source?

in a recent interview Buzz said that Suicide In Progress was written when Kevin was still in the band.

Don't have the set list but obviously centered around NWB, ASA and older material that didn't seem to cover the Rutmanas era but did include Eye Flys, Boris, Tipping The Lion, Honey Bucket...probably a few more I'm blanking on.

 thank you, after reading the word Boris and the word Eye Flys believe i need a doctor
