I'm finding tix prices anywhere from $54-$164.......any idea what the box office price is?  For San Fran?

http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/1C0042CBDCB15AF2?artistid=734676&majorcatid=10001&minorcatid=60

$26. but its ticketmaster, and you know they will be $40 after "service" fees.

You called it:

Tickets (The Butthole Surfers)
Full Price Ticket    US $26.00 x 1
Total Building Facility Charge(s)    US $1.50 x 1
Total Convenience Charge(s)

   US $8.55 x 1

Order Processing Charge(s)    US $5.40
TicketFast Delivery  What's this?
What is TicketFast

So we've all read a lot about how the Melvins fans have responded to Down, and a ton more about the Down fans in general...but how have the Down fans been receiving the Melvins?  Has the response been generally positive?  I'm guessing by the non-mentions here that they've not been outwardly hostile toward the band?

yknow out of all the gigs ive seen in a few different countries, and ive seen more than i want to musicaly as i work in the industry... i dont think ive ever seen a fight or even a dispute.
sounds like america with the problem, im thinking in other countries people go to a show to enjoy it.

You could be on to something.  I've only attended the one festival overseas, and over three days, I don't think I saw an arguement, much less a fight.

from what i've heard from americans, the european crowd is definitely milder, but the atp crowd is a group of music fans, same thing at roadburn, even if it's five days you won't see a fight there. it's different though at shows where people don't necessarily go for the music, but rather for entertainment/drinking purposes and then they don't know how to behave.

i was at a gwar show a few weeks ago and there were a lot of drunk morons. gwar is the one exception that i'd go see pure for fun, they simply put on a hell of a show and you'll get entertained big time. like monotonix, but different ;)

Word up on Gwar.  They've never been exactly musical powerhouses, but their live shows are something not to be missed.  Spike TV take notice -- they'd be just about the perfect house band for any show you put on.

As for fights, G, spunk and I used to hit a lot of scary little clubs in and around Detroit when a) we were too young to be doing so and b) the skinhead thing was in full effect.  Take Detroit and skinheads and you can see where this leads.  I've seen plenty of fights and shoving matches at shows over the years, but rarely did they get out of control, despite the overly hostile environment.  Granted, I was like 16 for most of them, so I'm sure I was given a free pass, but I never saw any brutal violence or anything... which is surprising when you mix the murder capital of the US with a counter culture built on hatred (jesus, what was my mom thinking, letting me go??).

The only fight I've been in since 5th grade happened to be at a Primus concert of all things.  I know many have stated it here multiple times, but there are idiots at every show.  I'll bet if I was a large enough meathead, I could get punched watching Paul Anka play.

The interview appears to have vanished, replaced with a warning about "attack sites."

:*o(

The attack site thing is a browser setting, not the site itself.  In firefox you can disable it in security preferences.  Most likely they had some suspect ads running.  Pain in the ass.

Anyone have a video (or audio) of Mr. DNA?  Sounds like they've been playing it quite a bit.

That's fucking rich.  I bought some of their music years ago based on the Trey Spruance connection, but never knew about the Hamburger thing.
