Robert Pollard's Boston Spaceships sounded really good there
but that was due to a good spot
i'm just tired of squishing in with the crowd these days
i like hanging in the back if it's a packed house
it would probably help if i drank a few
i love seeing them live, so maybe i'll get to the stage early and hang on

DD's  bar is ten feet from the stage
usually drowns out the music
if you don't have a spot in front of the sound board, the sound is horrific
i haven't drank at a Melvins show, so i wouldn't know about the selection of beer
but i am sure that can make for a better experience
i'd rather they play the Empty Bottle

Melvins did sell out the DD last time they played there
and it was on a rainy Monday night
thats why i'm suprised they aren't playing a bigger place this time (Metro)
even though i'd love to see them every time they came around
i fell like i can miss here and there after seeing them so many times (+Reggie's was a great show)
DD has been there main spot for the last sixyears

Double Door is really lame (sound sucks)
as much as i enjoy the Melvins, probably won't bother
seen the Melvins about twenty times and both shows at the double door were the worst(one with BB, one way back when)
even Quacker goes Deaf and the Fireside were better
even the Aragon show was better, and that place sucks azz

H.A.T. has become my favorite album over time
does suck that they don't hit that live

It would be great if theMelvins ever played the Metro in Chicago again
that is where they shine the best
They were really good and the sound was above par at Reggie's last time
but the double door is one of the worst clubs to play at.
the sound is horrible and the bar can usually drowned out the music
doesn't help that the bar is twice as big as the stage and ten feet away from the stage as well
the only place I can think that is worse for sound here in Chicago is the Aragon Ballroom
when I saw the Melvins with Primus there in '94, they got boo'd
but the Aragon is a big azz echo chamber

Did he make funny faces on stage when he was in the Melvins?

it was more like he did a cool swirly dance thing and would spit at the crowd every blue moon

Did anyone else see that small guy towards the back doing the spastic interpretive dance? It wasn't me, I swear.

that was definetly me (cross between Elaine Benis dance(Seinfield) and having convulsions), been freaking people out for years
had a macho man trying to rule a mosh  pit (Melvins @ Metro late '90's) stop in his tracks and tell me to calm down (still the funniest thing i ever experienced at a show)
loved the Reggies show and i liked the sound way better than the double door (only the Metro has had better sound for the Melvins)
Jared stopped right at me and didn't go any further when doing his Boris rounds
i was shouting lots of the lyrics too
good times

that sounds right, and the time it played was '93 - '94
right when i was starting my Melvins worship
probably why it stands out so clear
one of the only times you got to hear / see the Melvins on mtv
that and the little Beavis and Butthead moment
