I will occasionally borrow some of my CDs to my 50 year old father (I'm 19, like anyone cares) for his commute to work and back so he can jam to something other than inane radio early morning talk shows, so earlier today I gave him (A) Senile Animal so he could do just that.

I was out raking leaves as he drove in the garage with "The Hawk" just CRANKED!!!  He steps out of his Jeep and says that he listened to it twice over and that he loved it.

He then came in, put it in our stereo and blasted it for our whole household to enjoy, playing "A History Of Drunks" several times while making air guitar type gestures as he's dancing around in our living room.

True story.

Behold... the power of the Melvins.

Speaking of "accessable," how about those freakin' handclaps on "A History Of Drunks?!?!"

You know what they remind me of?  The Riverdales, or I guess Screeching Weasel even though I don't really own any SW records.  Just the 60's pop music influenced stuff Ben Weasel always did because it made his music sound more like the Ramones.

You know what I'm all talking about, right?  The part in the middle with the extremely simplistic solo (which now that I think about it is also very Ben Weasel-esque) where its like "clap, clap-clap, clap, clap" (repeat a few times).

Its the first Melvins song I've ever heard where I found myself bobbing my head to the left and to the right, smiling like an idiot.

Which is really new territory for the Melvins.  I never thought a Melvins song would sound really upbeat and happy to me.  But I do believe its a good thing.  Yes, definitely a good thing.

You bought Bullhead... AT WAL-MART!!!

You have an awesome Wal-Mart!

I've had to buy every Melvins album I own either from an indie music shop 20 miles from my home or online.

I mean, I might have expected one of their Atlantic albums to be stocked at a Wal-Mart somewhere, but Bullhead!!!  Cool!

Fantastic!  Thanks guys.  I personally prefer when artists try to actually write words for their songs instead of just filling them with swears.

On a side note, would there ever have to be a parental advisory on the Melvins if they're on an indie label?  I don't think Ipecac (or other, similar sized record companies) is bound by those laws, right?

Oh, thats no big deal.  Honestly, I'm more concerned with swearing/themes of demonism and or satanism.

But the Melvins were never about the dark, mystic kind of metal.  For which I am happy.

But if the "bullets from my leg" song is the worst on there, I will be picking it up post haste!

Hey guys, I'm new to this board, but I am a big Melvins fan.  Well, not as big as a lot of you guys, but they do officially rank as my second favorite band (after the Ramones) and I do have about a half dozen of their albums (started with Stoner Witch, my fav has to be the Maggot).

Anyway, my question with the new album is this:  How is the content?  I don't mean if its good or not (I know its good, I've read nothing but praise for it so far, plus its the Melvins!!!), but I mean like swearing, objectionable content, that sort of thing.  I know the Melvins were never really big on that (for which I am thankful), but I generally don't get a CD untill I either know the lyrics or have a good idea of the content level.  I know a lot of the lyrics have been posted on the lyrics board, but I don't think the whole album is there yet.

So I'm asking for your help.  Is there any swearing/other content I should be aware of before buying it?

Thanks.
