Perhaps it had become more of an addiction than a hobby? I guess there's a point at which collecting things could interfere negatively with the more 'important' aspects of someone's life; if someone's personality can be considered 'addictive' it's going to be more difficult for them to prioritise. This is a fascinating subject. I hope you're able to sort things out without one issue becoming another.

Many thanks Jules, as that could certainly be a possibility, and one that I am constantly trying to be mindful of!

I don't see how listening to music can be likened to a false god. Churches have organs, after all.

for some it is not an issue, but to the extent i was into things it had become one.  my issue was much more the collecting side of things, especially live recordings.

actually i have found Christ relevant to my life in a very real way, after which i remained with my musical interest for a number of years.  however, the further i pursued Him, the more I saw my love of collecting and listening to music as another god in my life.  it started to create quite the turmoil that i battled for a couple of months.  once i resigned myself to ridding my life of this other god my turmoil was ended and i have been quite at peace with things (which even to myself seems rather odd when i think on it).

while i understand this may come as a..."surprise" to a few on this board, there are a handful who sort-of knew me that probably will not be too taken aback.  for the record, i didn't move away from collecting/listening for any reasons of dogma or anything of the sort.  it was actually quite the battle for me to release something that i had held so dear for over 20-years...with The Melvins being a late introduction into my collecting arena.

i will have at least one more post of the two remaining [A] Senile Animal record sets and a couple of 12-inches.

best wishes to you all and have a Merry Christmas!

Only the dark blue/yellow set is available from Hydrahead now.
Still wondering if  'Set 1' was the box set or if another label/retailer is going to have another variation.

stated by Hydra Head (as seen on themelvins.net):
"This thing is as thick as a book and limited to a one time pressing of 3,000 with over 5 sets of colors in varying numbers of each within that 3,000 pressing, most limited is 100, most available is 1000."

so, there are at least 5 "sets" and they have made sure to list these as "sets" on the sales sight.  this would indicate that the box set is one, the 3 listed sets make the count four, and there is one (i presume the limited run of 100) that is unaccounted for.  of course, it could just be coincidental they used the word "sets" and they only meant colors - there would be 7 different colors and that would prbly make the transparent blue the run of 100.

i never could get those at Hydra Head to release the pressing numbers of the BB Waterworks vinyl, so i doubt they will for this release either...which i find a bit...well, for lack for a better word, childish.  what does it hurt to give out the numbers?  as a collector i would like to know for my own notes.  oh well...

Senile Animals day - got the boxed set from the post and came home to the standard 3 vinyl sets waiting for me on the porch.  time to go get the turntable going...

Nice! You'll have to check the comic book while listening to see if there's any stray doodles in it.

nah, that thing is staying sealed as i have no other reason to break into it aside from checking for doodles.  keeping the box set, the transparent blue, and the blue/yellow unplayed.

hope you are doing well!

i will say that the SQ on this vinyl release is top notch.  the 45rpm really helps with the "crunch"  of those heavier notes.

The peach, green, etc.. looks really nice.
I take it you found the 3 photos too..unlike the boy that cried wolf.
Yuppers.  I'm surprised they didn't offer a straight-black 180 gm. audiophile edition as well.

would have been much preferred!

EDIT:  i think all those packages look very nice.  the vinyl colors really "pop."

hey all - i got quite a few emails conerning my previous post.  instead of getting back to everyone, let me clarify:

i don't have a copy of this, but have the means to transfer.  i have been transferring Floyd cas>cdr for years for various collectors, so i have a lot of practice.  if anyone wants to send me their copy for a transfer to cdr then i will gladly do so and then send the original cas/lp back.  if there is anyone near the Chattanooga, TN area that has either the cas or lp then we could meet up or you could come over and hang while it is being done.

peace,
ts
