I recommend you ban FART LIPS and JZS before they tarnish the image of Melvins fans' any further.

I recommend that you suck all the shit out of a donkeys ass.

Ah the trolling reverses does it?

Phil isn't racist, he loves black metal.  :?

They are more accessible than a lot of other doom bands, but that's because I wouldn't class them as straight doom.

Down are as much Mall-doom as Melvins are Mall-Goth.

Still haven't gotten over insulting over bands and bigging up your favouwite bahnd evar?

But I'm the elitist yah?

I understand and agree with elements of the OP's statement. I'm pretty sure what he meant to say was "there is such thing as elitism in experimental music".

People listen to some bands they don't actually like, or understand just so they can say they do. They do this because other people don't know them.

I don't think the term 'Mall-Goth' really makes sense either, if it's meant to derive from "Mallcore" (an American term, so pardon my guess) which is Soulfly basically yah?

Either way, I don't see how this applies to Melvins. I tend to ignore their experiment stuff and class them as a grungey-doom band (inb4shitstorm).  Also, Leftover Crack are a relatively generic punk band...wtf.

I'm back bitches, miss me?

Been to Hellfest, it was awesome  8)

Oh & Down didn't start playing over the top of WASP. WASP over-ran by like 7 minutes (considerable amount when the sets are only 45 minutes long) so Down began playing an extended version of Eyes of the South...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RqbtzDDUkw&feature=related

The intro was barely audible to us,  so those at the WASP stage wouldn't have been able to hear. I personally think it was a great move, got everyone at the Down stage who noticed they were playing, REALLY hyped because they knew what was coming.

When I wrote 'metal' I was thinking...wait, better write 'most varieties' because some entire subgenres suck balls, like hair metal

Saying that, I  bought and liked Power Metal (confusing actually a hair metal abum...) by Pantera.

My tastes pretty much fit into; metal (most varieties), electronic music (mainly dubstep & dnb), reggae, hip-hop, classic rock.

Most stuff outside those genres doesn't do it for me. Obviously some exceptions.

im thinking that maybe the main difference between us all, is that melvins fans appreciate the slow, bassier things in life.
but i may be wrong.   :P
Lololol I think that may be the only thing we have in common. Doom/stoner my favourite genre of music.

I'm also a massive fan of Dubstep...the slowest bassiest music ever created. If you haven't heard of it yet, it'll be taking over your electronic music scene soon  8)

I still resent the comment that the bands members haven't earned any respect. They are all incredibly hard working musicians who have been make music in countless bands for over 20 years.

I dig what you're saying there.  perhaps my respect comment was slightly off.  I do, or at least DID like COC at one time.  pantera.. not so much.  crowbar.. not so much.   but the cats have the years in.

my point was that I can confidently say that SLAYER is held in higher esteem here than DOWN is.

To be honest, I liked Slayer when I was 14, but they grew boring and monotonous quick. To me;

Down
Crowbar
Superjoint Ritual
Eyehategod
Clearlight
Pantera
CoC

etc...is a display of constant varied music writing . Respectz from me.

The idea behind the trolling was basically to play up to the stereotype of Down fans which had been said in here. I can't actually remember why now   Fo' shits'n'giggles?

WHO'S TROLLING?  I'M PRETTY MUCH SPOT-ON WITH MY NORMAL ROUTINE. :P
BUT WITH ADDED CAPS

I see the mood has changed a whole lot here. People have realised they were actually being closeminded about Down's music (which the majority have admitted they've heard very little of) and their fans, who are welcoming of Melvins playing.

Kinda sounds like what I've been saying all along...
