Burn my biscuits brown baby.  :ohsnap:

I looked up the origins of the term 'Shit sandwich'. It's possibly from about 1966 during the Vietnam war. I'll accept that.

To list some things in this article that to me, reference bands, music, albums, or songs at a quick glance:

'Sonic-attack' = Hawkwind reference

'corkscrew hair' = T-Rex lyric reference ("I ain't no square with my Corkscrew hair")

'Buzz especially seems to 'kick against' those notions' = Patto ' I saw The man' reference (At least to me)

Ghost that 'Emanates' ( from under )  sounds like a 'Hag me' lyric reference.

The word 'Indeed' to me is a subtle, inside reference to that one WMPG 99 Radio interview.

Also...

'Filling Crover's stool' Sounded like taking a dump in his speedo, He smells great too, for an Alien.

Great review/interview.

I still "BURN" "COMPILATION" tapes and "LIVE RECORDINGS" to that cassette thingy Dumpster

Please show me where 'burn' is acceptable cassette recording terminology.

There's a 2022 Pitchfork review of Houdini in which this is written about Buzz:

"He burned compilation tapes, made pilgrimages to the DJ's Sound City record shop in nearby Aberdeen to talk music with clerk Tim Hayes, and even wrote an article for the Montesano Vidette arguing the value of small shows; years later, Novoselic would credit him with bringing punk rock to their community."

I've never heard of this article. Anyone know if it exists?

Does 'burned' mean literally set on fire, or does he mean 'COPY'?

And they were called MIX TAPES!!! MIX TAPES!!! Not COMPILATION TAPES!!!

you 'MAKE' them, we 'MADE' or 'Copied' mix Tapes!!!

You may 'burn' blank CD's, however cassettes predate this terminology and it does not apply contextually.

Whoever said that quote has given themselves away as a Millennial.

that said, is anyone still burning CD's or is it Just me, and I'm woefully out of touch with these kids and their social media and their wokeisms and all the current lingo?

Sounds like it's actually backwards and they've never experienced what it was once like living as a dinosaur in the stone age?

WE played with cap guns, and rented VHS movies, ordered pizza by telephone, and rode out on our bikes and spent all day outside playing in the woods. our wireless technology was Rabbit ears and transistor radios and by god we made MIX TAPES!!

I don't know what kids are up to these days, but clearly not burning compilation cassettes for their friends.

Cripes, don't make a guy feel so friggin OLD!!! ..it wasn't even that long ago there were no such thing as smartphones, and people can't even be bothered to use them to look stuff up like 'what did old people do with cassettes?' They should really be called 'DUMB' phones.

And then again, it's BUZZ...so Burning cassettes could be literal in this case.  :buzz:

It's Buzz who was the annoying one. Shut up for a minute and let Dale speak.

Bad mood rising...rising.  :buzz:

It's ok, Dale was speaking telepathy the whole time, and you need a drummers ear to hear.

I don't know... If it was me conducting an interview, I'd at least shave that morning, change out of those Grandpa pants, and not try to sit in between the band with my legs apart like I Just ate too much Taco Bell and might let rip a huge fart at any given moment.

If they were wearing sunglasses, I'd ask for a pair too.

PLease, if you're going to interview my favourite band then say or do something off the wall with their generous time.

  8)

Judging by Buzz and Dale's posture they were not getting into it.

Ask important questions, nothing general, nothing that has already been covered a bijillion times.

Get a vibe going.

"So what do you guys wanna talk about?"

"What is your name"

"What is your quest"

and so on...

I'd be trying to get an ear worm going with Buzz, like what songs do you get stuck in your head, when you're trying to concentrate on something important.

They seem to love cornball shit like 99 bottles of beer for example, take me out to the ball game, you know?

"When you brought Kurt Cobain to produce Houdini..."

#-o

Buzz would rather go in a 'shit on Courtney' direction in this interview than talk about another repetitive Kurt Cobain Nirvana related Question.

My question:

When did the same repetitive Kurt Questions really start flying?

Cancel Culture...

Buzz

"Seems like everyone's more hung up now than they've ever been"

So anyway, back to Kurt...

Also, the audio acoustics of this interview sounded like they're in a public washroom or something.

Jesus, outdoors would have been better audio environment even in traffic than a slappy echo chamber with a mic placed five miles away.  :o

I noticed several obscure references to music and bands and insider fan knowledge applied to some of the writing in this piece on first read.

"..and I try not to read any chat boards" says Steven.

I really have to wonder, which board would that be in particular?

What would make a great Cameo appearance on a TV show for Buzz and Dale?

The Muppets
