Just posting the original from Harry Nilsson here, in case people don't know that it's a cover :o

I really want to play those first few riffs from the video now.

I'd really like to know how often Buzzo seriously entertains the idea of giving a damn about it all and change his trademark 'fro after about 30 years to a simple "buzz"-cut?

Edit: Oh, I just saw that this was already question #8 in the original post. Didn't catch that when I read it...

1. Black Heath
2. Soberdelic
3. Euthanasia
4. Street Level St. Paul
5. Edgar The Elephant
6. The Hidden Joice
7. Flaming Creature
8. Cactus Party
9. Cardboa Negro
10. Pacomia Normal

That actually looks like a pretty good track list! It might contain one or two more songs from "Love", but it already has the more experimental ones I favour the most, too.

But thankfully to modern digital technology, one always has the possibility to create a tracklist for himself - and I'll never complain about the Melvins releasing too many songs on their albums as there's always a person that likes some track a lot more than I do.

Yeah, i feel like the "Death" side of AWWL&D gets unfair criticism. Black Heath, Soberdelic, Euthanasia and Flaming Creature are all really good songs!

It's absolutely true. I could live without "What's wrong with you", but the rest of the songs range from "very good" to "great" for me.

€: I just saw your edit. I nearly forgot "Christ Hammer", and while it is far from my favourite on that record, I still like it, though the "chorus" with Steve singing is kinda weak.

My personal song order might be as following:
Sober-Delic > Flaming Creature > Euthanasia >= Black Heath > Cactus Party > Edgar the Elephant >= Cardboa Negro > Christ Hammer > What's Wrong with You.

Funny in retrospect that the two songs they released before AWWLAD came out might actually be the weakest ones on the "more regular" first disc.

It's kinda like how "Euthanasia" was the best song on the double album. Almost wished that song could have been on PAT or Basses Loaded instead.

"Sober-Delic" and "Flaming Creature" want a word with you.

The first disc of A Walk with Love and Death might actually be my favourite Melvins record since Nude with Boots.

Basses Loaded's cover is pretty bad i think. I liked AWWL&D one tho!

Yeah, AWWLAD's cover is a lot more "tidy" and not that bad. Bassed Loaded on the other hand is far too crowded.

The Stoner Witch and Stag covers are just great in their simplicity, you'd have no idea what kind of music awaits you when looking at those illustrations and you've never heard of the Melvins before. I especially like the swan on the original cover of Stoner Witch.

And yes, I agree that skulls are some of the most cliché (and thus boring) art elements you can use for a band that plays heavier music. Honestly, I don't know why they use them so much in the recent years. I didn't like the similar looking "Basses Loaded" and "A Walk with Love and Death" album covers very much because of it.

It might also all just be a little joke to make fun of heavy metal bands by using cutesy cartoon skulls in abundance, though.

But i'd probably go with one of the three BB era albums. I really can't say which. Those were all before my interest started to wane a little or where i felt they could do no wrong. I was let down a bit by TBSM when i heard it but (A)SA and NWB were both excellent in my opinion so at the time i was very much looking forward to TBSM.

First post (after the two initial posts by the OP) and this is immediately spot on in my case! I loved Senile Animal and Nude With Boots back in 2007 and 2008 when I first came into contact with the Melvins. I quickly bought (or DL'ed :( ) nearly all their other studio albums until 2010 when The Bride Screamed Murder was announced.

I remember eagerly listening to the 30 seconds clips of the record on Amazon before its release and thought that it sounded really great - a mixture of The Maggot and the two other already mentioned albums with Big Business. I was slightly disappointed with the end result, though, and still am not fully convinced of that record, but that definitely was their most anticipated album for me.
(And that's been nearly 10 years ago now - kinda crazy when you think about it ).

The only one I listen to from time to time is Prick. Never found that record as unlistenable as most people claim, it even has what you could consider 3-4 "proper" Melvins songs. Then comes Love as there's also some interesting stuff on it.

I never considered CoD and Chicken Switch as proper Melvins albums, though, and never listened to any of them in their entirety.

Was a Killer show for me and I loved this cover :-)

So, I assume you're the uploader, right? Thanks a lot for posting this video!

Ich wollte dir als Ersteller auch nicht mit dem Einbetten des Videos zuvorkommen, ich hatte das Video nur zufällig gefunden und es deshalb direkt hier im Forum gepostet. :P
