don't need to see mudhoney, i've seen them once a few years ago, and it doesn't rock.

Luni, you destroyed the idea i had of Mudhoney as live band (never seen them) but i'll trust you  :D
I saw them last year and they still rocked my pants off.

because you forgot to zip it up?

well, i used to like them, but they were never my favorite band. thought it would be cool to see them though! but it was just a bunch of old stiff guys who were standing still, maybe doing some of those frog jumps like old ozzy, not rocking out, not sounding awesome. this was more than 5 years ago though, so might be they found some anti aging stuff, bigger amps, or started using those basketball jump training shoes :)

aha, i didn't get it with the smileys, i thought you actually wanted to see them :P

All this said I find Stag is one of the weakest Melvins albums.

Strange that he placed it on the wallpaper there though, because you just  can`t see the swans

I'm sure a lot of people are gonna appreciate this - the quality is AMAZING! Too bad there's no karma anymore.

The Dolbee thingies.. its the stuff that was in the artsy fartsy "shop" at the end of the merchandize stands.. they also sold the atp posters there. Its some kinda square (casette sized) vinyl toy. I thought the ones that were there didn't look too great - one with a mustache was kinda cool, but it was like 40 british pounds for it, so I didn't wanna buy the melvins one without seeing it first. If that made sense.

Here are the ATP ones, but no Melvins one..

Cool, I'm probably in that one too :P I guess I should write a short review to fill in the stuff Maarten left out. First of all, we had a great time, both Floris and Ryan were nice guys, and it was nice to meet Andy, Maffymaff and MacBastard (who we already knew from last time) :)

Luckily, we had no transport problems this time - (Except issues with my passport - the picture page is falling out because of a production mistake, so the people weren't sure if they could let me through) it all went pretty smooth, all the way from Amsterdam - Schiphol airport - Bristol airport - Bristol Temple Meads train station - train to Taunton - Bus to Minehead.

The first day, I wasn't really "crazy" about a lot of the shows. Melvins 83 was cool to have seen, but they played early, and the sound just wasn't loud enough. European sound people tend to turn up the sound later in the evening when the headliners (were there any?) play. So yeah, it was fun to hear/see it, and they all played good. Especially Matt Lukin.

Same thing with big business. They played great like always, but the volume just wasn't loud enough.

I thought Torche was cool, but I didn't see anything, except for a cowboy hat once in a while, and a bold head on the other side of the stage once or twice, which is probably why I didn't get as into it as I think I would if I could see everything. The sounds was GREAT though. It was the first band I saw there that really had a great sound setup, and from what I could see, it seemed like they had a lot of fun on stage, and the crowd really liked it.

Fantomas was good with Dale, he got the job done, although I do prefer to see them with Lombardo. It was nice and tight, and cool after seeing the directors cut movies on tv.

The second (the first normal) melvins show was better than the 83 one. The sound was great this time around. And Buzz's vocal harmonies were great, but the choice of songs didn't really satisfy me - probably because I've seen them too many times on the last few tours with BB. It was mostly (I think more than half actually) newer songs, and not many surprises. The second show was also good, but I got too annoyed by some stupid guy with a dirty mohawk who was jumping into people, so I didn't get into the show at all. I know this isn't the bands fault, because they did play all the songs really good, its just that there is a limit to how many times seeing the same songs being played will entertain me. I was also hoping for more special appearances and collaborations. Mike Patton only did TWO shows on the whole festival, and only with Fantomas. When I first heard he was gonna be curating it with the Melvins, I was sure the bigband were gonna play (not that its the band i would want to see the most, but still), and I thought maybe tomahawk or peeping tom, kaada, or some other collaborations would take place - maybe even with Rahzel or D

Haha, I tried to shake hands with your weirdo friend, but he was busy with his ipod :)
I really liked the whole show (all 3 acts) on Sunday, but yesterday when it started too late, I didn`t really feel the need to see porn again. Especially not after the half an hour loop effects! But big business kicked ass. Buzz's guitar doesn`t sound good. Sometimes I didnt recognize melvins songs until half a minute into the song or something, because I couldn`t hear what the guitar was playing at all. But it looks cool though...
