Melvins Discussion / Eye Flies surprise
November 09, 2011, 11:25:40 AM
I was driving to work, going down a long stretch of road blasting eye flies with the window down.  Then all of the sudden my hearing starts going a little nuts.  It's as if the sounds outside the car enters my ear canals in waves.  I think its due to the dubbed feedback in the intro not being in sync or at the same frequency/pitch. Maybe.   Any ways its probably around the 1:30-2:00 minute mark.  It's pretty weird.  Anyone else experience this?

Some advice for older CDs that skip on a tune or won't play at all:
Just make a burn of the CD. The CD-R will play fine most of the time.

Had to do this with my Lysol.  Bought it used with Lysol title on the cover and sticker removed.  But it would have these weird millisecond skip every minute or so thru out the whole album.  The burned copy cleared ot right up.

Melvins Discussion / Re: Melvins heaviest song
November 08, 2011, 08:04:11 PM
Ahem...Heaviness of the load?  It has the word HEAVY in the song's title for crying' out loud.  Not only by word but also by action.  This song defines heavy in my book.

But I voted for hag me.

Didn't know gold could be so loud and noisy.  Wonder how Ol' Lou would like it?

Melvins Album Discussion / Re: Ozma

Agreed with the small % comment.  I like the second verse on repulsion though.  Seems to make that song  endless too.  The longer version of accident does drag.  Making it concise was an improvement.  I just find it interesting that buzz would dice his songs up.  Vile vermillion is another example.  But some pretty drastic changes were made on that one.

On the making love demos to various bootleg recordings you here longer versions of songs like ever since my accident, my small % shows most, revulsion.  Why did Buzz cut the songs shorter for the Ozma recording?  Was he trying to make it more "punk" by having shorter songs?  I don't know?
Any thoughts?

I love Buzz's comment on "Rape Me". Made me laugh out loud. I think "Paper Cuts" or "Beeswax" are probably Nirvana's Melvins-y-est compositions.

There.  That's better.  I just joined this party.

Paper cuts for sure.  Might I add "if you must"?

@ about 3:20.  Even better , he was referring to the majority of the public.  Great responses from John, BTW.

I understand ASA is an album not a song but this is still relateable.

In an interview with Tom Snyder, John Lydon (then of PIL) uses the phrase "a senile animal".  I believe he was referring to the mass media.  I saw it years ago.  I'll look for it.
