I think PGx3 is one of the best things the band has ever done.

No, she just found it objectively beautiful,as did I. She is not a heavy music person generally.

I became a fan in '93/'94 in Jr. High, and immediately set out collecting the back catalog, and was super stoked each time I picked up a release. I still get a thrill with new ones. I think Bride Screamed Murder was most exciting, first time I got a new release with my now-wife, so she got to be part of the first listen. PGx3 became our wedding aisle song.

Haha i think so, i was groovin in a pierced arrows shirt on the bottom step middle. I think your wife bumped me at one point and apologized, and I was like its all good! I agree, best venue i've seen them in.

Word up.
I was dead center in front of the soundboard on the bottom step. The mix was crystal! Highlights for me were very venue and crowd related. Besides the beautiful sound, I was very pleased with being able to see, lack of jostling and shoving, the venue did not get super hot where I was, the crowd was less filled with drunken morons than is the norm from what I could tell. Everyone who snapped up a ticket was a true believer and happy to be there on a Wednesday night.
I accidently missed Toshi, he must have played for 10 minutes. Red Kross put a real smile on my face. THAT is Power Pop.
As far as Melvins, the set wasnt one of my faves. Last few times have seen them blast through short/punky/poppy and then end with the sludge. It was nice to hear civilized again, but for me the set really came alive with the finale of disgust/blessened/bit/teeth. Buzz was wailing all Hendrixy, and I really love Steven's playing on those songs. Dale was just a treasure.
Parked down the road in front of La Luna/Pine Street and had a super nostalgia moment for all of the great shows in the 90s we saw. Woke up with a bangover and didnt even do much headbanging. I know im out of shape but pushin 40 is pushin 40, so please you lovely old men, stay healthy! I want to see you every year for another decade! PDX Melvins show #19 in the books.

Got my Doug Fir tickets. I've only been to one show there, Low, and it was amazeballz. Incredible sound and the space looks really cool, kind of like a "Twin Peaks Black Lodge meets Spaceship" kinda vibe. Smallest venue I'll have seen them in. Holds 300 (The Hawthorne, where they played in 2012 and 2017 holds 500).

Now I don't feel so bad for missing the Crystal Ballroom gig...

For those of you that skipped the Crystal Ballroom show because you didn't like the brewfest aspect.......you missed out. Same set as last night in Tacoma, but not as packed.  It was a great show that wasn't near as full of drunk dipshits as I expected.

What was the setlist?

Going to the Tacoma show so not sure about the Portland one for many (all) of the reasons above.  Well, the set list isn’t an issue because I have nothing bad to say about the last tour but a beer fest at the Crystal sounds like a not too awesome time.  I know people in a couple of the opening bands so I can probably wait until last minute to decide.....

My reasoning regarding the setlist is, disposable income being limited, do I want to see the same thing I saw last year (which was killer) in a shittier venue at a higher price surrounded by drunk beer brahs.....or hold out for a September gig with a new mix of awesome? Aarrgh!!!!

I'm still on the fence about getting a ticket for this Saturday.
1) Will it be substantially the same set as last July?
2) I have soured on the venue since the last time they played there in '05.
3) It's a fucking beer festival, with all of that's potential problems.
4) I see there is a September Eugene show. Will they heading back to Portland this fall?
S'pose I better make up my mind......
