Melvins Discussion / big melvins rumours
« on: December 24, 2003, 09:58:25 PM »
There was a small one pager in Hustler talking about Stag after it came out and how the Melvins are working with Greg Dark on the Bar X vid. It was great because the photo was Buzzo in hell holding a beer can surrounded naked devil chicks. I have it somewheres, I'll try and dig it up.

« on: December 18, 2003, 09:54:59 PM »
...And so a few minutes ago I was farting around on Ticketmaster checking out Neil Young tix and on a whim I punched in Melvins. One show was listed for 3/6/04. IN MY CITY!!! Thrasher presents is the local promoter so I scurried to their site. And lo and behold it was listed! And is said that theyare playing with mothereffing MUDHONEY!

Beto, don't miss this one man!

Anyhoo, go to ticketmaster.com and/or thrasherpresents.com for proof. Hope this isn't old news, I have not been checking the board much these past few weeks.

Love,

Quote from: Dave
The story about calling his mom is funny...

I've always wondered though...

What does he say at the very end of that?... the crowd says it along with him, but I cant ever make out what they are saying...

Im assuming since the crowd says it along with him that this is something famous...so someone here must know...

It's annoyed me for a while.

"Let that Boy Boogie Woogie."

It's a riff on John Lee Hooker's "Boogie Chillun." Zeppelin did the same story on the Whole Lotta Love medley on The Song Remains the Same.

Melvins Album Discussion / Lysol Tracks
« on: December 05, 2003, 06:24:41 PM »
Track Listing:
Hung Bunny
Roman Dog Bird
Sacrifice
Second Coming
The Ballad of Dwight Fry
With Teeth

The track you are probably not able to distinguish is Second Coming. On Love It to Death it is more than the marching drums and melody, but a full song with lyrics. The Ballad of Dwight Fry is also shortened quite a bit from the original Alice Cooper version as well.

Vile is in my top ten. The passion is the vocals makes me think of every female that has ever fucked up my heart and head.

It's what you would think it is: the Revolve promo only single. Good score!

Melvins Album Discussion / Re: Stoner Witch

Stag was released on Atlantic/Mammoth II. Mammoth II is a subsidary of Mammoth, which is a subsidary of Atlantic. (Other Mammoth/Mammoth II artists include Squirel Nut Zippers and I believe Ben Folds Five, but I'm not sure). Anyhoo, it was some interview with Buzz back then that talked about all this stuff.

After the Melvins released Prick, Atlantic decided that they would like the option of being involved in future "odd" releases, so the Melvins got to start their own vanity label, which was Atlantis. The only two things that were released on Atlantis were Stoner Witch (Atlantic/Atlantis) and the Tora Tora Tora box set (X-Mas/Atlantis). However, they ended up releasing the Singles on AmRep around the same time Atlantic pawned the Melvins over to Mammoth II. So who knows what the deal was...

Dude it sucks! I'm telling ya, get a distortion and an octavizer seperate. I'd sell you mine but it pissed out after a year. All it is is a DOD grunge pedal and a shitty sounding octo mixed together.. It IS NOT WORTH THE PRICE! But hey...to each his own.

Oh wait, I do remember what we did that made it usable. We ran it from a cheap ass late 80's Yamaha drum pad with pre-programmed beats, into the amp. With all the knobs on it turned up we really dropped the bomb...yo. It sounds bad ass.
