i'd like to do another show, maybe paris or london, but need to try to coordinate them with work. paris is probably more likely.

i'll be there.
it's a bit of a bummer that there will be no club show in swtzerland this time around. but at least they have a headliner slot on this festival.
the festival itself is nice, there is a hotel right next to the venue.
they also let people sleep on the floor of the venue itself for cheap.
the festival overall is strongly focused towards stoner, doom, psychedelic, retro rock.

Hey buddy, what's the venue like for the festival?

I'll be there. A hotel is sounding better than festival floor atm.

next night i got out a bit earlier and headed to eat at rote fabrik. met jules as i was sitting down and had a beer and a bite to eat and talked about life, music and everything underlying it. melvins fans seem to be good people and have a lot in common. talked to lots of cool people at the show. was good to meet the milano crew and a bunch of zurich locals too. even found some folks from nearby me in the valais. jules and i went inside as door opened got beers and camped out in front of buzzo. i'm a guitarist and hudge buzzo fan from back in the day. i guess i saw them back in 92-93 opening for alice in chains dirt tour (mudhoney opened for them). i had never heard of them at the time and had to pick my jaw from the floor and hold it in place during the alice in chains set. these residency shows were like going back in time. so good.

bullhead first set. loved every second of it but anaconda killed it for me. pretty much an sonic OOB experience.

stoner witch second set. lividity was a great opener. skweetis began melting my face by this time. was a bit rude for the chick to jump on stage during queen but the boys worked it into the song with perfect timing and non-flinching. seems like coincidence and simulation theory were running in full mode tonight (tonight's heavy conversation topic).



i think i have a mancrush on coady. just such an intense drummer. like the young jedi apprentice under dale. the guy just goes all out 100%.

i had seen melvins lite in geneva a few weeks back and the fact that they were playing in zurich kept eating at me. so with a little over a week left, i pulled the trigger on tickets for both shows, train, and a hotel in zurich. took off early from work and got in town with a couple hours to kill, find food, and whatnot. then hopped the #165 bus for rote fabrik. 

rote fabrik (red factory). it's an old silk factory from the 70s right on the lakeshore a bit south of zurich. really great space for concerts.





setlist residency 1



lysol/eggnog first set. was an intense opening with charma. just crushing, in a good way. i'm in it for the slow and heavy so i'm loving it. loved roman bird dog and sacrifice.

houdini second set after a 20 min break. hard to pick faves but night goat and  joan of arc were tremendous. jared goofin around in the crowd at the end was a trip.

Excellent review. So much awesomeness at this show.

Swiss crowds can be subdued but there are some core fans out there. Small clubs and lowkey are the best shows.
