I've really come around to this guy, after seeing him with the Melvins a couple times now and hearing the new album. I like what he adds musically, with a clear appreciation for 60's rock and psych stuff. I think he is closest to Mark D (if comparing to former bassists).

Heat was brutal, I ended up bailing after Cherubs (sorry Mudhoney!). Melvins were solid, short set as usual at this thing. Got a picture with Steven McDonald and Lori Barbero (of Babes in Toyland) in the bar. Blind Shake with Shannon Selberg was kind of a let down, kind of boring. Whores were exactly what I expected from listening to one of their albums, good. Cherubs were a pleasant surprise. Didn't know them but I enjoyed them.

Went and got my wrist band today. They were setting up merch shop.  The guy (Robel?) who made the Haze/AMREP documentary was there and sold me a copy of the movie. I hadn't seen it since the screening so I watched that to get myself psyched for the Bash. Can't wait for tomorrow!

I love this new tune. Very pumped for his album to come out.

I'm into it. Probably won't listen to Love more than a couple times because that kind of thing isn't really my jam,  but I don't begrudge them the experimentation. Death is fantastic.  I love the psych flavoring.

This night followed by the Colossus of Destiny movie thing, will make for a couple of good nights for a Melvins fan.

Couldn't wait for the colored versions, ordered up the black vinyl bundle for my own Father's Day present to myself (ostensibly from my two year old I suppose).

Overall I really dig this one. The ones with Pinkus and the '83 lineup feel extremely similar to their previous albums (fairly samey), but I was pleasantly surprised by the McDonald ones, the Dunn one made me want another Lite album, and the Jared track made me want another album from that lineup. Plus the Novoselic one was neat.

I get the folks who feel that Melvins have been a bit a "samey" lately, but I think there are moments on every album that are unique. For those folks take heart!  I believe Buzz and Dale will eventually tire of this particular strain of Melvins, and they'll go off on a different tangent. Then there will be people who pine for this era.  :D

Got mine in today! Digging it! (loser edition for me as well)

I can afford these and I would still buy that. Just make it a letterpress or something. I prefer to listen to CDs. Sorry, Dumpster.  :D

I should clarify. I CAN afford these, but don't feel like waiting around a computer hitting refreshh like an idiot. I only buy the shit that doesn't sell out in 5 mins. Don't need a panic attack over a record.

Think they'd ever do a subscription type thing? I'd buy into that for sure.

Genius.
