Hey man, we're both fine, thanks!

With who are you gonna cover those songs? Are you in a band/jamming with some guys? Have you considered Captain Pungent or Boris?
oh great man!
glad to hear things are going well.

yeah, boris would be greeeeeeat to do.  we can already play the music for it, we just need to figure out whose gonna sing, i have always wanted to be a singer (like everyone else, yes) yet usually people push me back because im the drummer. gah!  we also know anaconda, that is such a fun song to play.  i really want to learn zodiac too...hm...i need to get that work done.

Anaconda is one tough monkey on drums. The rest is incredibly easy ;)

what ever happened to you playing bass?
still do it?

Yeah, still suffering. Nah, it's going pretty well. Been practicing with a drummer for a while now, and the last month has shown a lot of progress. We got a few 'songs' we can jam to. Gonna jam with some guitarists now, to see what they can add. Also jammed with kurva in April, can you believe that? Him on drums and Rembrandt Pussyhorse on guitar - how's that for a themelvins.net jam? ;)
damn dude!!!
that is pretty awesome!  i'd love to hear y'all!
sounds pretty sick!
anaconda is definitely rough, it took me 2 months to get the whole thing down.
missing would be fun to cover too! i could go on and on...
RECORD YOUR MUSIC!

I've noticed an insurgence  of members here lately, but I suppose that can be compared to population growth.  People die, people are born.  Melvins fans come and go.  But theer are some of us that are Highlanders.

I didn't notice anything but the usual crowd at the Seattle and Portland shows.  I think Buzz probably went on FOX for A ) Publicity, and B ) he's intelligent and wants to voice his opinion.  But how he got to be on FOX is another question.

Them being in Juno was cool.  Actually, I haven't seen it, but everyone at work knows I love the Melvins, and when they saw the movie, they all came and told me.  I already knew by then, so it wasn't that big of a deal.

I guess I find this no weirder than when I heard they were picked up by Atlantic.

Btw, where the hell have you been Jamie?  Out there in the 'normal' world?  :P
it's nice to be back here, i like seeing new people
i've been really busy, more busy than i have in my entire life, this board has always been in my heart though!
doing the same thing everyone else is doing, going to school, working, having sex with a vagina.
how are you idle?  you're the warmest welcomest person on the whole board!!!

this melvins show was the first time i got to drink at one, i didn't drink much but i got a good buzz going bc i had to drive my friend back.  it was his first melvins show and he got wasted.  he kept screaming "this is a sausage fest,"  i don't think the other people much enjoyed him.  there was this guy with long hair behind me, i was just right front center and he kept whipping his nasty oily sweaty hair on me, while trying to literally push me out of my position.  it pisses me off still that you can't be up front and stand still and watch your favorite band play without some douche crushing you, it's the closest most people at these shows have come to a homosexual experience.  all shows are like that though.  i only weigh 111 pounds so it sucks more!  i even saw some guy bring his kids to the show!  he was really close to me holding them, those kids (1 was like 2 years) didn't get scared or anything though, with it being so loud and pushy, pretty phenomenal- i'm guessing this wasn't their first show.
it was really cool when they pulled out eye flys and boris, i specifically tried to distance myself from looking up any shows so i could be surprised at the set list, since the melvins don't usually switch up their set list much.
i wish they'd record that version of boris!  jareds throat bass singing was quite a cool sight.
it was sad because i didn't have enough money to buy any merch...i know i'm going to regret it

Melvins Discussion / new popularity?

named in a very popular movie, buzz on fox news, etc. etc.
are the melvins getting...BIG TIME?

i went to the chapel hill show and there were countless kids there, and i only know a select few who are seen there in their teens, but some kind of  new thing has happened.  i don't know whether to like it or not.  of course more love for the melvins means more melvins, but you come across more dickheads than what the usual melvins fan is.
brian walsby's band opened so maybe that has something to do with it, since they are one of those circle pit bands (not my type at all) and that attracts younga peoples.

does anyone else find this extremely weird?
of course i'm happy for them if this is the case

37
yeah, hag me is one of those songs that just takes a while to understand how great it really is
it reminds me of a day in the hot blistering sun barefoot on very sizzling asphalt.

38
GOOD.

 :D
i agree, these guys were meant to stay

it's weird how many people could work so well with melvins

39
no.

we all love buzz, but we all know he is a control freak.
he doesn't care about the bassists that leave/or are fired

i find that very sad, because some of the best bassists have been in the band (JOEMARKKEVINETC)

buzz holds too many grudges, come on buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Can't say i've never "disliked" a song or album, but I've certainly reintroduced myself to a few I never  gave a chance.  Mostly Honky.  Which I now LOVE.

and happy very late b-day Cap'n.
thanks man!
i haven't been on here for a while, so i appreciate that a lot.

i knew the second i said hate or dislike everyone would be like "whoa whoa whoa...hate?!  ...melvins?!"
heh.

i was different with honky, i remember i got it when i was on a trip to new orleans with my family and i put it in, then the lovely butterflies came on while they were driving and it scared the shit out of them, and irritated.  it was instant love.
at that point also the only melvins "video" i had seen had been the one for mombius hibachi....gah, i have to say it's one of my favorite albums because it's one of those ones you can listen to many times and get something new from it.

i hear ya though

what melvins songs did you not like at first but now have a love for?

-i thought this would be interesting since melvins do that, after 100 plays it becomes sooooo good.

i'd have to say ligature and black bock have really gotten to me
i used to dislike both, but now i really feel them.
ligature feels like what the song should be- slow and straining

and black bock is just wonderful, it's so unique and unmelvinsy, yet very strong

box sets piss me off
i mean they're cool and all, but it just ruins it for people who already have most or all of the collection and make stupid ass rich kids look like they're die hard melvins fans when they have no ideaaaa

but yes yes, they're nice because you get it all for a cheaper price and bonus stuff
yeah yeah yeah...

Melvins Discussion / Re: The best of the side projects
« on: May 07, 2008, 08:29:05 AM »
a lot of people on this board say altamont isn't that good b/c it doesn't sound new or anything,  to which i reply SHUT UP!
altamont is a band where dale is the lead and he sings and plays guitar so brilliantly, i lovvvvvvvve dale's style so much.
i was glad that nwb has him singing more, he has one of the coolest voices in rock, and he's very underrated.
i think that the melvins should let him sing more, he writes well and has just a great rock and roll voice.
it's simple, but verrrrrry different.  it's very dale, and dale's pure cool.
monkee's uncle is a brilliant release for them, the best.
i would like to see a band where he plays guitar and sings and buzz plays bass and coady plays drums, that would be insane.
they should do that more now where dale takes over, they have an extra drummer so they should take more advantage of that and put dale more in the spotlight.  i can tell that he has written some lyrics in nwb too, it has a lot of childish slurring rhyming that's just soooo great.  i love it.  when he comes in on vocals it's usually the high point of the song, and that's what i love, just so heavy.

buzz wise fantomas are great as well.  i let my gf listen to delirium cordia, which i would have never thought she'd like, and yet she lovvvvves it.  i think anyone who's a horror movie fan can get into fantomas, they play on great themes.  yet this isn't a buzz writing side project since patton does most or all of the writing, yet you can definitely know it's buzz playing guitar which is great.

i hope both bands put out a release sometime soon.

have you guys ever noticed on the song "it tastes better than the truth" that it samples a line from a porno?
i think different samples are played at different times, melvins created or not, obviously, and before then i'm sure, but definitely near the 2:35 minute mark there is a sample of a girl having an orgasm.  and i am 100% positive it is flower tucci, the pornstar, having a squirting orgasm.  she said those exactly same lines and it sounds just like her, she's pretty well known online so i'm sure someone else can hear what i'm hearing.
i think that part in the song is what gives it major juice

I don't know my porn that well.
i'm possssssitive it's her, she does squirting porn which is really funny considering the melvins put it in the song, or very disturbing, heh.
the melvins are all about porn and masturbation
