Seriously looking forward to this. The new album is extremely good - my favorite since A Senile Animal.  I live in DC so it's a bit of a drive but well worth it - it's always nice to visit B'more anyway.  That said, I wish he could've made it to Black Cat.

Who else is going?

GrimReaper

I will be there. I'm always good for a drink so look for me.

Sorry I didn't see these before the show - would've been cool to meet up with somebody for drinks b/c I ended up going alone b/c my wife couldn't land a sitter.

Honestly I'm still reeling from the show - Buzz fucking destroyed the place last night.  I'm sure there will be some posts about his rants on Marilyn Manson, Iggy Pop, Weezer and the city of Philidelpha - HA! - but the real story is about how he shredded his way through an amazing set and commanded the room with just a mic and a guitar.

Mary Halvorson's jazz-metal hybrid solo set was a fucking sight to behold.  VERY glad I made it out last night even though I dropped more than I wanted to at the merch table.  Ha.  Don't miss this acoustic tour.  Seriously.

Great stuff GrimReaper!  I'm sure some of that is going to end up on some rock zine websites b/c of the smack talk which is part of the show - glad you got some great songs too b/c the guitar work was where it was really at.

I was in the same spot as you guys.  Got to hang out with Buzz a little too and he was cool.

Damn, lucky bastards. I wish Mary had been on the first half of the tour too. She's awesome =D>. Her recent quintet albums "Bending Bridges" & "Saturn Sings" are really great. Saw her trio last year w/ Weasel Walter, and got to see Trio-Convulsant open for Melvins & Fantomas back in '04/'05.

huh, didnt know she played in Trio Convulsant. cool.

yeah she was great. she had so many albums for sale on her table i didnt know where to start. it was confusing too, because she did all covers at the show, and all of her albums looked to be original material with multiple instrumentalists. maybe ill check out those albums you mentioned. thanks.

Yeah, I saw Mary H on the Fantomas/Locust tour in 04/05 with Trio Convulsant - that show was impressive too. After this last show I asked her which albums she suggested and she recommended her new Mary Halverson Septet album and an album she plays and sings on with a rock trio, People.  Both albums are excellent and I'm glad I bought them.

In terms of Melvins merch I ended up getting the Ottobar poster, a comics poster signed to my dog, Queen Buzzy (thus my username), by Buzz and Brian and the Melvins Tribute to Queen 7" which is pretty damned nice.  If I were rich I would have bought all of them but oh well.

I'm thinking I might try to catch another show on the tour.  Will post if I do.
