I think i may have made a similar thread before but hey ho. A few days ago i went back to 'Honky'. For some apparent reason, it is a Melvins album i rarely listen to and yet i don't know why - it's a great record! That got me thinking about Melvins albums i don't listen to very often and also ones i have heard the most. So what are the Melvins records you have explored the most over the years?

For myself i think they are...

(A) Senile Animal
Nude With Boots
Hostile Ambient Takeover

Basically because i only just got into the band prior to the BB line-up so when those records came out i gravitated to their NEW releases. Taking them in a lot. Playing them over and over. HAT is one that i can listen to sooo easily. It's possibly my favourite ever record by the band so it makes sense that i've chosen to hear that one quite a bit. Other notable releases are Freak Puke, The Bride Screamed Murder and Buzzo's first solo record. I've played all three quite frequently but probably not as much as those above. Additionally, i have a funny feeling that if i redid this list in another 5 years or so 'Five Legged Dog' will probably feature. I honestly think im going to be listening to that record a LOT!

Stoner Witch far and away I've listened the most. It was my only Melvins album for a few years. The Maggot and The Bootlicker are close second and third. Then Senile, Stag, Houdini, Hold It In, HAT, Bulls and Bees.

When Stoner Witch came out that was when I first got into the Melvins on a casual level but it was HAT that seriously got me into the band. Such a great album. PAT I love and still listen to regularly so those two albums would be the ones I've listen to the most.

Senile Animal and Bullhead are in the top two for sure though for a time The Maggot and The Bootlicker were heavy on rotation.

Gluey, Ozma, Bullhead, Eggnog ... got into Melvins when GPT came out and the mark it made on me has lasted decades ... I'll never forget the first time I heard that record. Melvins instantly became my favorite band and I devoured and lived in those early releases.

Atlantic years I was a little less fevered by ... not that I didn't listen to those records a lot tho. Outta that era most spun would be Honky and Houdini.

The Ipecac era had me jumping in head first again in a big way ... from that era would be HAT, The Maggot, The Bootlicker, COD, POTRE, Electo ... haha pretty much everything 'cept The Crybaby.

Post Kev era ... I donno, haven't been as enthralled or consistently blown away by these releases. Most spun would be ASA, Freak Puke, Mike & Melvins, Hold It In, Endless Residency

But yeah, Gluey, Ozma, Bullhead, Eggnog easily dwarf all the others in total rotations.

The Ozma/GPT combo cd was my first proper Melvins purchase after having a dubbed cassette copy of Bullhead for a while.  So probably those 3.
