there's tons of shit to do here. one thing i suggest is checking out amoeba records in upper haight. you can find almost anything there. plus there is a ton of tourist shit too. how long will you be in sf?

(im from Sac, but I go to s.f. quite a bit for shows...)
definitely Amoeba on Haight Street.  The Grateful Dead house on 710 ashbury a few blocks down.
the beach is nice on a nice day.
the warfield, the orpheum, the cow palace...all those other historic places.  oh yeah, the fillmore! not that you can do anything OUTSIDE it. the art museum was nice.  good food.

see you at the show! I'll be there...umm...really early.

Enjoy the Show!  If you get a clear day go Hiking in the presidio, walk across the Golden gate Bridge, don't miss that.  There's so much cool stuff in San Francisco, it's visually Stunning.  You're better off on foot, ditch the car.  When i lived down there i rode aMotorcycle, that was perfect.

Golden Gate Park! that whole area around the Steinhart Aquarium and the old De young Art museum, it's Beautiful, the Conservatory.  Etc...

Vertigo is one of my favorite movies! (Filmed in SF)

It rivals The Blues Brothers, which was partially filmed in my town, Joliet. (The prison scene at the beginning; it was closed a few years back, and is now a training academy for policemen.) Police Academy 7 anyone?
