I got there around when the first band came out and started playing their ambient stuff. It was okay. The drums really saved it, and that one two-note riff the guy plays. When I went outside for a smoke I heard everyone saying they thought it was rockin', so I guess it's just me who didn't think it was great.

I checked out the merch table and they really only had XL's of the devil's head shirt and the one with the blood on it. The gig poster hadn't come in yet, and all Walsby had were NY posters (from two different shows).

Big Business came on and played their 8-song set, including Hands Up, The Drift, Cold Lunch, Grounds for Divorce, Start Your Digging, and a few others. There was trouble at one point with Jared's bass, but they sorted it out.

Melvins came on a little before 11:30. They started off with Nude With Boots, then Dog Island, then Civilized Worm. I lost track after that.

The sound and overall vibe of the show was much better than Houston two nights earlier. There were a bunch of people taking pictures, and I realized I forgot my goddamn camera. I'm still kinda pissed about that.

The Hawk and Honey Bucket were the most rockin' of the night I'm thinking.

At the end of the show, Dale handed his stick to this girl to the left of me who looked almost exactly like Angelina Jolie with a bunch of lip rings.

Does anyone have pictures?

It was nice to see them in a venue that had A/C.  The previous night at Emo's was quite steamy.

I also went to this show.  I didn't take any pictures either, I hope somebody did?  I was exactly to the left of that girl, standing right beside her.  I have to admit, I was jealous about the drumstick thing...

Im sad I missed the melvins this tour, but not so sad that I missed House of Blues.
