I just got my book and it is a phenomenal thing for a band to produce - the Melvins must really love their fans.  :? Right?

Anyway, an interesting thing to me is how all those arty folks write about the Melvins.... I mean; I just thought they played good music. I didn't know Melvins were a force in the pretentious artsy fartsy world? Who'd a thunk it?

well, if you listen to their music you can here they try to different stuff, and to some doing things different is art :)
and if you look at their covers you can see that they are made with CARE, not just slabbed together by some moron who think the Dukes of hazard font is "radcool".

the melvins think of everything :)
thats why i love em:))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

other bands that are a bit artsy that i like are :

Butthole surfers
Ween
godheadSilo
Cows
Melt Banana

etc etc

flyinghouses

the book has alot of mackies art. thats why it was possible to produce.im sure the band is thankfull for having fans to buy there stuff, but i dont think they necessarily care about them

anaconda

are you nuts? they LOVE us! if youve seen them live,
you can always catch buzz sneaking a peek at people's
reactions thru his squinted eyes, he may not say
alot at the shows, but they LOVE us.

flyinghouses

that would be nice to know. but how are you so sure :?:

well i've seen them 8 or 9 times thru three different bassists
going back about 12 years now and you pick up things.
i've seen them with joe, mark d and two shows with kevin.
so the only constants are  buzz and dale, and since dale's
behind the kit i watch buzzo the closest, and he smirks
and shoots a knowing glance to familiar faces all the time.
at least it seems to me he does.

beee

wow thats nice to read :)
maybe i should ask buzzo about it when fantomas comes to warsaw :)

what anaconda says is true.  they love suckups.  a dirty little secret.  just don't call them on it.  maybe not every suckup.

btw i'm a suckup.

adam jones from tool also contributed artwork.
so did cam de leon, ramiro rodriguez and alex gray ( i think?)

are there any credits at the end of the book or whatever telling which artist did what and whatnot and blah blah ?

im still waiting on my copy of the book in the mail. i ordered the hardcover from ipecac on march 10.
still no show.

the credits are present in the back, and are very very useful.  i keep one finger in there at all times and flip back and forth alot.  some of the artists have short melvins-related blurbs there, some have funny little jokes or whatever.  the credits are awesome.  if it weren't for them i wouldn't know kevin contributed to the art.  and yes, alex gray contributed also, but i was disappointed in his pieces.  i've seen infinitely better come from him.  i may have ordered mine around the same time as you and i got it between a week and two weeks ago...i'd say if it doesn't come by the middle of week six, do something about it.  scary.
