HOB Vegas tonite!!

Wasn't too excited about this show until I just watched the LA clip. And now I'm PUMPED!!
I've lived in Vegas my whole life and we get shit for shows, luckily the melvins have made a routine stop thru here about every 2.5 years or so for the last decade.

This will be like my 17th time seeing them, my first being in 93 with L7 here in vegas!

I'll be wearing a black  Secret Chiefs shirt and glasses, come say hello if your going to this a see some tall guy rockin to the melvins.

great set, they sure crammed alot in the 40min they played. Pretty much the same set from what I read in the portland review except no billy fish and no night goat, and the bit was played near the end instead of night goat, finishing with smiling cobra.

I showed up right at 7 expecting danava and they melvins were setting up already and before I knew it they were playing withing 10 min of me walking in the club, good thing I didn't decide to drink another beer before leavin my house!

This was def one of the LOUDEST melvins shows I've ever seen out the 16+ times I've seen them, also the loudest show I've seen at any HOB next to ministry probly!!
It was at the threshold and buzz vocals were almost distorted from everything else but still sounded good. Also this was the tightest the BB lineup has sounded!
I saw the ASA tour and also an LA show over a year ago, the drumming tonite was way tighter with more dynamics I think and dale and cody traded off more making it a little more diverse.

A thought after seeing this lineup again occured, I would much rather see the drummers backs face the audience so I can actually see them play vs. dales hands and cymbals etc...
Also Jared is boring to watch in melvins, cool in BB though...

HOB was not even close to being sold out and for vegas I was suprised that there were a good amount of people there to see the melvins. Down fans seemed to dig them for the most part. There were some skinheads there waiting to start a pit but security didn't let any moshing happend during the melvins.
THen Down came on and their sound was atrocious!!! THe sound guy must have been def!! The bass and drums were droning the first 2 songs and then I had enough and we left.
I'm not slamming Down, the sound was just that bad, and for that to happen at house of blues was hard to believe.
Plus I wanted to leave on a high note, knowing that Down would just not cut it after seeing the melvins belt out another amazing set.

The Buzzo Dale duo at Henroids was one of the greatest spectacles ever. That's all I need. Stripped down raw MELVINS.
